I think you need to google bikini atoll

If you look I believe you will see that explosion was bikini atoll in the video I linked. I didn't suggest an actual tsunami - i said mini tsunami because I thought that it would evoke an image obvious enough to laugh someone arguing that Batman surviving (the impact, being blown through the air/water, and/or surviving the radioactive fallout) was plausible out of the position.

I guess I failed in that because apparently it is now debatable that a person would be OK if one were just outside of the area of absolute annihilation when a nuclear bomb went off.

I'm not even sure why this is a controversial objection. Neither am I saying it should ruin the movie for anyone when it was a very good movie on the balance. It just seemed silly (the phrase deus ex machina kinda works when you would probably have to be God to survive when you hopped out of the machine in question)

. Am I the only one that thought Bane's voice was awesome?

No my gf who hated BB and was meh on TDK thought this was the best film she's seen in years and she and I loved bane's menacingly sophisticated Darth vaderesque voice. Not only that but his vocal intonations as well.

I know others have disagreed but I thought the voice was very well done and maybe even perfect for the part.

You could argue that doing his voice by computer as they did reduced Tom Hardy's acting to physical acting (if they modified his voice throughout the movie it is no longer his acting that you are hearing as much as the computer programmer's) - but the Ban character including his voice really worked IMO

Agreed.

It made him kinda cool but also creepy as hell at the same time.

A nuclear explosion is the most devastating Thing on earth. I've always been blown away how many people can survive the initial blast (unfortunately for the Japanese it started raining the night of the blast and the thirsty people took to drinking radioactive rainwater), and in bikini atoll's case how many ships could stay afloat.

That's not to say that many ships weren't immediately vaporized or sunk. However nuclear ash did fall on some Japanese fisherman nearly 3000 miles away if I'm not mistaken.

Talia would most likely still be able to find out about it as a prominent board member at the company, especially considering her resources.

She wasn't a board member till very late in the game.

She was literally the last piece to be set in place.

I haven't really read this thread but I know TDK vs. TDKR is probably a key part of this thread, so I'll leave this here... I just got back and it blew TDK out of the water and I really really liked TDK. It just seems like child's play compared to this one. The scale of this thing was unreal. I know a lot won't like that, but that's how I feel.

unless the batplane was moving at close to 2000 miles per hour bailing out with 10 seconds to spare would meant he was still in the explosion radius (setting aside the fun possibility of being killed by the mini tsunami that would have resulted)

They just show that he has already ejected at this point not that this is the point at which he ejected

In my mind he probably ejected as soon as he was over water

The movie was good but deserves a second viewing. I'm sure I missed a few plot devices or small details that would make it much better. It really is alot to take in.

Bane's voice was hard to understand at times.

Kind of pissed Bruce is just riding off into the sunset. Wished they wouldn't have killed the Universe off after three movies. I don't know how they would transition JGL being batman. He's a cop with no special training, operating equipment, etc. Maybe he'll break out some shark repellant on a helicopter ladder and I'll be satisfied.

It just ended. I'm kind of disappointed its over now. What else could you do with it though.

Did anyone else get chills when Bruce finally escaped from the pit?

As Bruce starts climbing, the drums kick in. The camera starts rotating between the chanters, the doctor, and Bruce. Bruce keeps climbing, and the drums get louder, so we have both a visual and auditory crescendo.

Once on the platform, the bats came out from a crack in the wall, and swirl around above him, at which point the drums really kick in. The bats were his primal fear years ago, and his ability to feel that fear and triumph over it was the symbolic birth of Batman. His main fear while he's standing on the platform, however, is falling and dying in the pit, and the presence of the bats symbolizes a rebirth of Batman as Bruce makes himself vulnerable and challenges fear once again.

The whole scene is just really well done.

I'm fairly bummed that "Why Do We Fall" doesn't have the chant in it.

On a related note, I think "Imagine the Fire" is my favorite.

Especially ~4 mins

Just saw it tonight and it replaced DK as my favorite overall alltime film. Christopher Nolan. And I will go with Bruce Wayne fixed the auto pilot.

And bat signal on the bridge was awesome. It did make me think of Daredevil, the Crow and Punisher. Might as well do it with Batman.

This. Tom Hardy deserves praise because he did a hell of a job. It's the little things that make his performance great. The way he moved, especially how he walked, just exhibited the raw power. In my opinion, his voice and mannerisms fit the character so well for what could have been a lifeless brute. This goes along with the same reason Ledger's Joker was such a hit. Voice and mannerisms in these roles make the role.

Not to mention, I've read on Reddit about how tough on Hardy the mask was. He couldn't breathe in it, it took a long time to get the mask off, and it was so tight on him that it would mess up his face. Also, supposedly he had blisters because he was allergic to something in the mask. The guy deserves respect for it, surely.

She had been sitting on the board for several years. She became CEO "late in the game" but she had been a member of the board of directors for a while.

That what I say and it's ridiculous there's so many people complaining. There was no reason to blow the building but for a distraction to get out of the Bat. He fixed the auto pilot and that was that. He and Salina got out, salina had the "clean slate" and he and Kyle left the country and "disappeared." leaving Batman "dead.".

IMO, this was the absolutely perfect endin to this trilogy. I love the way Nolan tied both movies into TDKR with Dent and The League of Shadows.

Finally got to see it. Thought it was the best of the trilogy and there were times during the movie you wanted to jump up and scream "frick Yeah". I do however still believe Avengers was the most fun theater experience of the Summer.
