Bane: You fight like a young man, nothing held back. Admirable...but mistaken.

Is The Prestige really that good? I'm intrigued because it's Nolan but a film about magicians just sounds meh.

Dude you have got to see The Prestige. A lot of people think that is the best Nolan film out there. If it ain't, it's close.

I have it DVR'd but the fact that it's 2 hours and 45 minutes and is about magicians gave me pause to dive in. I guess I will check it out now. I've seen all of his movies except this and Insomnia and loved them all.

I don't consider Insomnia a real christopher nolan movie since he didn't write it. I was just meh on it. Mememto and TDK are the movies most people mention when they talk about Nolan's best works but for my money The Prestige is as good or better than either. It's one of my all-time favorites. I don't know why it's not more well regarded.

The Prestige is awesome. You have to pay attention though.

Just watched the ending of TDKR on YouTube. Was Alfred getting up to walk over to Bruce or was he leaving without talking to him?

The problem I have with that dialogue is revisiting it after knowing the ending.

They made a big point of a child born in darkness, and use Bane as the obvious foil for it.

It turned out to be Talia.

So where this "born in dark," "haven't seen the light till I was a man" come from?

Was he ALSO born in there? And why no light? Seemed plenty to me where Bane put him.

You would think Bane would have put him in the super dark like he was if it was there.

Probably leaving, if he followed through with the fantasy.

After you watched the scene that is what you were wondering? haha honestly i don't know really. It kind of looked like he was leaving.

I've seen the movie and I don't have many questions about the end. When I saw the movie, I assumed that Alfred was getting up to walk over. After seeing the ending a second time, I'm not sure.

Bane was definitely from the prison. The movie just revealed that Talia was too, or at least that she had spent plenty of time there. And I imagine Bane's point was that he lived in a hellish underground prison for a big portion of his life and knew what the darkness was like, not necessarily that he had never seen a desk lamp before. It was somewhat metaphorical as well. Bruce had lived a life of luxury and Bane had lived a life of agony in one of the worst places on earth. If bruce wanted to defeat him he'd have give up everything and take himself farther than he'd ever gone before. Sacrifice was definitely a theme of the movie.

Exactly beaverfever, couldn't have said it any better. Sacrifice and pain were the overall themes of the movie. Bruce Wayne went from having it all to having nothing, while Bane was the opposite of that. In order to defeat Bane, Batman had to overcome all of the adversity imaginable. I think that's why I enjoyed it so much, without nit picking every minor detail in it.

Bane and Talia shared a common bond because they were both born and raised in that prison. They both loved each other deeply, though I tend to believe it was more of a brother-sister type love than anything else. Bane became her protector and fought off the attempted rapists long enough for her to climb and make her escape. And I think Bane was being more metaphorical than literal when he was talking about being born and nurtured in darkness.

Bane had a lot of good lines in the movie. I liked the tone of his voice during the fight switching from mocking and angry(when you cant understand him.) I also loved the way Bruce was grunting and growling, he was giving 110% and Bane was almost toying with him.

I know it has been said but Alfred was really seeing Bruce. Right before JGL saw the Bat fly out over the ocean there was an explosion over some buildings, that was him creating a smokescreen so he could eject IMO. I personally would have rather he just stay dead
