26- Life is Beautiful - A comedy about the Holocaust, designed mostly to make you cry, is bad enough, but I disliked this movie for the same reason I disliked The Boy in the Striped Pajamas: the action in and around the concentration camp could never have happened.

The point of the movie wasn't to make an exact historically accurate film. It's about making the best of any situation (even the worst in recent history). I don't get why this movie is target for so much hate

deserved but misranked

Interstellar

this movie from the first minute till he entered the black hole would be my number one movie ever. then black hole and everything until the last 3 minutes ( really enjoyed everything from "you told them i like farming?" on) happened and it falls solidly outside of my top 10.

Vertigo was a fantastic movie and should be higher on the list. It's my favorite Hitchcock.

The only movie I agree with in the OP is Interstellar. That movie was pretty boring to me. I'm not the biggest fan of the Star Wars movies, but you can't deny who significant this movie was to many different people regardless of age group. Never seen The Help. The rest of your list I don't agree with, especially 12 Angry Men and No Country for Old Men. Those are fricking classics. Life is Beautiful is really good too.

What most people don't understand is that, though black holes are just a theory, what happens in the movie is what most of the top physicists believe would happen if someone entered one. It's confusing and only a theory, but is pretty "accurate".

I feel like most people who dislike this movie were hoping the black hole would lead to some alien planet where he finds the answer to everything.

I find that hard to believe. Can you link some of those articles?

Although I don't understand half of what those astrophysicists say, I enjoy reading/listening to that kind of stuff.

Audiences didn't like it when it was released... for good reason.

Now that I think about it the accuracy was what it would be like as you approach a black hole. Not what happens once you go through it. My bad. Can't remember where I read this.

Episode Four was the original, you hack. Go troll a different board with this fricking nonsense.

Rex thought the Star Wars Holiday Special was the original. An honest mistake, really.

I gotcha. Yeah, up until he enters the black hole it all seems reasonable. Afterwards is the strange part. I imagine the person would be crushed to the atomic level.

What happens when you enter a black hole?

Haven't read it yet so I have no idea what it says, but it seems to be written in response to Interstellar.

What the heck.

This is not over-rated whatsoever. It's number 166 and not like it's top 100. Everyone I know thoroughly enjoys this one.

Seems like most of your issues with the others are they aren't believable to you.. Well, they are movies and it's just your opinion.

In one, you would be instantly incinerated, and in the other you would plunge on into the black hole utterly unharmed.

You might enjoy reading this.

I realize it's not an article but a whole book. But it goes into pretty deep and fascinating detail about the subject.

eta: Obviously it gets technical, but it's not a difficult read.

Never thought this would be rated so high.

It was really just another movie.

In the words of Josh Baskins, "I don't get it."

It's a film directly inspired by Flash Gordon and Saturday morning adventure serials. Of course the plot is going to be weak. However, it's execution is almost flawless. The plot is constantly moving with each scene meaning something to the overarching story. No frame of film is wasted and the movie flies by breathtakingly fast. The editing is perfect, the visuals are incredible, and Lucas's direction is impeccable.
All this.

To be fair, my love of Star Wars goes back to the original theatrical release, and it was called "Star Wars" then.

Once the retro editing starts taking place, that film drops drastically. I actually dislike the most recent version (goofy CGI aliens bouncing around), and don't/won't own it.

I do have the originals on VHS somewhere, and man, I wish I could figure out how to download/burn the despecialized editions.

Interstellar was ok, but not as good as the hype. I thought the ending was weak.

That's correct... and that's why when I saw "Star Wars Episode 4" my mind raced to the fourth installment, which was utter crap. The first is still a bit overrated for quality, though not for historical impact.
