Man that was a jumbled mess. It wasn't a total dumpster fire, but it was not good. Way too much packed in. Didn't pursue some of the things that worked well. Did too much with some things that didn't work particularly well.
The best thing they had going was Batman. Ben Affleck was fantastic. The opening sequence of the movie with Bruce Wayne watching Zod/Superman fight was awesome. I loved how they developed the resentment he had for Superman. You could just feel it building. He so blatantly killed people with guns/knives which was frustrating for me.
I don't know why they didn't give me more of Superman wrestling with this idea of his intent to do right vs. the destruction he brings. For someone who values life, I feel like he would've been more conflicted.
It felt like two different movies thrown together. The first half was a lot more character development (which was the more intriguing half to me). The second half was a lot of fighting. The fight sequences were fun, but I wanted more of our main characters without everyone else getting in the way.
I'm pretty sure they had multiple people rewrite this script numerous times. The pacing was uneven. I feel like they could've done without 2 villains. It felt like DC vomit at times.
"Killing" Superman seemed like it was supposed to have some great emotional effect on us, but we know he's not dead so.............
I didn't regret going to see it, but man, this could've been so much better. C-
ETA: That dream sequence makes me ready for Batman vs Superman: Fury Road in the near future

Fair enough on that one because I heard he cut his hair and shaved. I just don't know why they had to show him looking like that in the movie. The first look we get of Flash and he looks terrible. I just didn't like it.

It's a spoiler thread. Do explain as I don't keep up with it all and I'm more excited for civil ware due to how great winter soldier was

Just got out.
I'll give a short and sweet review for the moment......
BvS is more than enough evidence that Zack Snyder should be fired immediately and never allowed to work with comic book characters again.
This movie is a 6/10 on a very good day.
3/10 on a very bad day.
Longer Review.......
Snyder's hate for color does not work with comic book characters ever. Especially the most colorful character in comic books in fricking Superman. The whole movie felt completely joyless, melancholy, muted and energy sapping. Even when the DC trinity was fighting off against Doomsday, there was just no energy and excitement there because it was already sucked out in the first hour.
There is so much shite in this movie that Superman and Batman would really never dream of doing and would shake their motherfricking heads at Snyder for even suggesting it. Batman literally branding his enemies, stabbing them and killing them left and right goes against the code he swore to uphold which was killing is only available as a last resort when there is no other option and it was a first fricking option for most of the entire damn movie.
We also never really got any context to what Bruce Wayne does on a daily basis and why Wayne Manor is a burnt down shell of itself.
Superman really never showed what makes him Superman and simply saving a little girl and a space shuttle is not enough and is very much the definition of half assing it. When they were burying him, what the frick were they mourning there when Superman literally has given them very little reason to be awarded those kind of accolades and burial as he literally should be mistrusted given that he did not make himself as transparent as he possibly could and only went to that hearing because he was forced to. The entire movie, it literally felt like Superman was deigning himself to converse with common folk and elected representatives seeking answers from him. Oh and that stuff in Africa goes against Superman's code as well as he would make every effort to save even his enemy's life. Superman was completely joyless and acted like a complete emo dick the whole movie and I didn't recognize who the hell I watching.
Oh and his romance with Lois without any context to it whatsoever looked so and completely forced and unnatural that I was literally cringing.
Bruce and Diana monologuing and making vows to Superman at his funeral like they are lifelong friends after one of them previously trying to kill him and the other having just met him and both knowing him for only less than an hour or so is a complete joke and another good example of Snyder forcing that onto us without any plot and character development like the real hack that he is.
Snyder not only doesn't understand Superman, he doesn't even understand Batman as well. He has no fricking business making movies with those characters that I hold dear to my heart.
Snyder really completely and epically overdid it with the disaster porn that was way too big for 3 characters fighting against one. Snyder's visuals and taste for disaster porn works in small doses like what we got with 300 and it completely looked awesome and badass then, it doesn't work and looks over the top on a larger scale.
Oh and the plot was barely holding itself together and it seemed like a mash up of scenes glued together without any real cohesiveness whatsoever instead of seamlessly being fused together without any effort whatsoever.
What I did like.......
What I did like was the universe building in introducing the other characters and that certainly a very original way to build them and introduce them and in a vacuum for the average fanboy, that would give you a ton of excitement for them.
I really enjoyed Lex Luthor. He's a bit unorthodox take on him but the other incarnations and versions of Lex would definitely approve of Eisenberg's lex given that he has the right motivations and behavior that really unnerves even the average hardened criminal.
Wonder Woman was very solid and I was pleasantly surprised with Gal Gadot's preference. I've had the worst fears with her and she did a hell of a lot better than I was expecting and I can definitely see her growing into the role. Wonder Woman is essentially a female version of Superman and she really acted the part in combat. But it remains to be seen if she can stay true to what makes Wonder Woman, well, wonderful. But that's noting to happen as long Snyder has his grubbing paws on DC projects.
All in all, this isn't a very good movie from a character and plot standpoint is pretty much only a very mindless but excellent disaster porn movie and B rate comic book fanfiction movie. If you care about Superman and Batman having good stories to tell and actually acting their part, Snyder should be fired immediately and a director who gets and understands what makes the characters be hired in his place.

Superman flies and stabs Doomsday with a Kryptonite spear. Doomsday stabs him in the chest. Superman dies and is buried. The last shot of the movie is dirt hovering over his coffin to indicate he's still alive.

Goes against everything the character stands for. This is a slap in the face to one of the best characters in comic lore.
Complete bullshite.

They crammed a frick ton of shite in this movie.
I actually liked man of steel but thought it felt rushed a pieced. Would've preferred it broken out into two separate movies and built the character.
This sounds even more rushed. Ill wait for the redbox

Snyder is openly making a mockery of Superman and Batman and it pisses me off.
Snyder is great for action and disaster porn movies that doesn't require very much plot and character development, he should stick to those and stay the frick away from movies that don't work for him like comic books.

I honestly think what happened is they announced the movie. Goyer wrote a script. They hired Batfleck. Batfleck wanted to bring in Terrio to rewrite. Terrio comes in and they decide that there's enough material to make two movies. Zack starts to shoot a good amount of footage. WB finally sees it and says "What the actual frick is this?" They decide to cut their losses, stop spending money, and try to dwindle it down to one movie. And that's how you get the abomination before you. There was SO much shite that just seemed like it was missing. And that was just one of the many issues wrong with it.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it sure seemed like something like that happened.

This movie was an absolute pile of shite and CGI.

A movies success depends on the talk and word of mouth it gets throughout the opening weekend and week to an extent and hopefully it will be bad enough to the point where DC will have to force Snyder make some serious serious concessions and work with people who understand Superman and Batman.
But I don't want that to happen. I want Snyder fired.

Here's my initial reaction/review:
If you are a fan of Superman or Batman or Lex Luther or Lois Lane or Doomsday or cogent and coherent storytelling, then you'll hate this movie.
If you are a fan of drinking copious amounts of alcohol and subjecting yourself to spliced bits of information being shoved into you eyeballs like dull ice picks in the hands of Kathy Bates while enjoying mindless action set to no context then you'll love this movie.

My friend is going to watch it cause "he wants a action flick that requires no thought process".
He also owns all the transformer movies. Probably right up his alley

I think you are correct.
What worked so great in batman begins is the amount of time and detail the movie invested in Bruce Wayne.
I wish man of steel had been the same and sounds like this movie additionally needed the same.
One thing marvel has done is spent time and money developing characters. I'm hoping they don't do too much with civil war and the new faces

I'm just pissed Snyder completely ruined and butchered the doomsday plotline. He completely raped one of the biggest cannons in Superman mythology ever.

I didn't think it was that bad, but I can see why critics hated it. It just takes itself way too seriously. The movies also 20 mins too long.
