In BvS we at least understand Bruce Wayne's concerns with the potentially disastrous consequences that could arise with the arrival of an alien godlike being who possesses unlimited power, especially considering his past experiences with the worst kinds of people along with good men who fell into corruption.
IMHO the movie made Bruce look like an emotionally immature irrational idiot

I actually enjoyed the movie, but my thought of the idea of them fighting means batman is a dumbass was correct

This may have the "Captain America" naming rights, but it is obviously a much bigger movie than a solo character flick. it has basically the entire Avengers team (minus hulk) and more!

it's not an underdog by any stretch of the imagination.

you want to keep talking about "lead ins."

1st Capt: $65M opening weekend. $370M gross
Winter Soldier: $95M opening weekend, $714M gross

its doubled. and now has the second avengers movie as another lead in. this movie has 0 obstacles except the imaginary kind.

eta: your RDJ play doesnt work since AoU was after IM3. didnt have an effect on that movies take.

What?

See here:

People will choose Batman more than the Avengers almost every time.

I didn't say that.

Has the MCU been more successful than the DCU so far? Of course. But BvS is probably going to outgross every film but the two Avengers movies. What it took Marvel 6 films to do, DC will do it in 2. These are just facts.
See here:

LINK

What really drives that $1 billion number is international. Look at the difference between Guardians at IM3. Look at the International Gross for Captain America. Out of all the major hero films, Captain America performs awful overseas.

Being hesitant about that number isn't some narrative, it's just taking the data and forming a hypothesis.

I think he's trying to say Batman and Superman have a higher Q rating than any Marvel Studios IP, especially worldwide.*

*Spider-Man is close though.

my previous post refutes all this smoke and mirror about civil war.

but this:

is just fricking nuts. youre 100% correct and makes me even more depressed. imagine if the movies were GOOD! they turned out one of the worst super hero films and itll do avengers type numbers. God fricking damn it. drives me insane that theres no motivation to make these properties decent stories.

Agree.

Who said it's an underdog? Being the 3rd or 4th highest grossing film this year is not an underdog. I just don't think it's a certain $1 billion film.

Actually I don't.

Winter Soldier: $95M opening weekend, $714M gross

Ok....? This says what? AoU grossed less than Avengers.

quote:

this movie has 0 obstacles except the imaginary kind.

Who said there are obstacles? There are concerns, not obstacles.

quote:

eta: your RDJ play doesnt work since AoU was after IM3. didnt have an effect on that movies take.

Again, AoU grossed less than Avengers, not more. And I said "ever so slightly." As in, it grossed $100 million less...ever so slightly.

I think we can all agree with that. But what Marvel has built with their movies over time has erased what was previously more or less popular. They've become a powerhouse. They are not an underdog in Hollywood by any stretch of the imagination.

Any talk about Batman v Superman making so much money because of "word of mouth" is flat out wrong I believe. This is one of those movies you see whether you think it will be bad or not. It's an event, and you want to form your own opinion about it.

There's plenty of people that like it enough, but word of mouth could only serve to dampen the hype. The level of hype was so high, word of mouth couldn't possibly be raising it any higher, with all the negative response out there.

DC will have to make a good movie at some point.

This was an event film, Batman and Superman sharing the screen for the first time. It was going to do big money regardless of reviews or word of mouth, people wanted to see this for themselves. I'd say a lot more hinges on Justice League than this movie did.

You have returned back to your Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor portrayal: frustrating, all over the place, with hints of insanity for insanity sake.

DC is probably ruined. Should've gotten a better director the n sydner and goyer. they rushed into it.

a plausible "Martha" theory:

I think the issue is the way it was done not the concept behind it. To me, the moment felt forced and inorganic, partially because the fight felt a bit that way.

In the context of the movie, its a pretty ridiculous moment. Although I agree that it could be made a much deeper and more resonating moment.
