That would've been great, had they shown him actually "activating" Doomsday. There was no "activation". He was already created and ready to go.

Pretty sure he slapped a control to bring him to life. He didn't just happen to emerge at the correct point in Luthor's speech.

No. I just saw it. There is a copy out there. No slapping of a control. Also this:

but Lex had a monster and a weapon capable of killing Superman. Why involve Batman at all? He's not a meta human and you know his secret identity so you can probably take him out at a later time.

lot of this sounds more like excuses than reasoning. These type of assumptions would be non existent had Snyder done a decent job telling us something coherent.

I mean it's a superhero movie with alien technology being used.

Shits gonna happen that doesn't make sense because superheroes and aliens

I can't wait to see if the Director's cut coming out in July addresses many of these narrative questions or just exasperates them further.

Sure, but you have to have a clear motive for your villains. They can't just be crazy and want to destroy things anymore. At least not for me. Zod had a motive, IMO. He wanted to create a new Krypton. Then he wanted to destroy earth in a kamikaze fashion because that possibility was gone. There just wasn't a clear motive for Lex other than, "I hate Gods, so I'm going to resurrect another one." Did he think Doomsday would be nicer to him than Superman? Maybe. Maybe he thought he could control him. But you have to convey that to the audience. That's where the fault lies here. They didn't convey reasoning in this movie very well.

The latter probably.

In fact, they already released a scene from it! I've never seen a movie do stuff like this one. LINK

What the actual frick is all I can say...

So I was right on the money. Luthor finds out about Apokolips just as the SWAT team arrives. And he immediately sees his mistake.

Not necessarily. He could have been doing things like this before creating Doomsday. Darkseid could clearly be pulling strings here.

It looks like Lex was learning about Apokolips from the ship's "3D story telling" thing.

I can understand if that is Darkseid. As a character, Darkseid looks similar to a lot of other comic book characters. Maybe they changed his appearance to leave mystery but not confuse the common viewer with someone like Thanos.

I think Luthor was just trying to kill two birds with one stone. 1, expose Superman as a murdering fraud. 2, frick Batman too.

Have you ever seen a movie that had to release deleted scenes immediately after theater release to try to explain plot holes? Wow.

There were people who already believed this. One more death would not have changed anyone's mind.

Seeing it is different from believing it. Any deaths that Superman had caused to that point had been incidental. Collateral damage. For him to straight up murder someone is another thing altogether.

I don't think they'd do that. Snyder needs a humanoid Darkseid for his slow-mo reaction shots.

They believed this because of Luthor's machinations. The difference would've been that Superman would've actually committed this murder.
