its not how i thought they would portray it based on the book. helena didn't take it hard enough....i'm not liking how they are writing her character.
dialogue is kinda off too...doesn't feel natural like it did in GoT...some humor would be better.
on the plus side, i do like how they are writing Aegon...much more personality in this episode. white worm has gotten rid of the annoying accent from last season as well.
next week's preview looks insane

They’re going for PG-13 version it seems.

Was that shade thrown at D&D when Stark mentioned the dragons couldn’t cross the Wall?

I know, but the real lore has a tendency of getting left out the show. It contradicts the comedic events of season 7 “beyond the Wall”

They churched up the Blood and Cheese quite a bit. I thought they'd make it worse, knowing the fat man's penchant for child sacrifice.
Did Helena say 'they killed the boy,' implying that the other kid is a girl on this show?

It’s not so much they can’t it’s queen Alyssane tried 3 times and her dragon denied her commands all three times. That’s the only mention in lore I know of ever mentioning dragons trying to fly across the wall. It makes sense though it’s magic and dragons are magic. Then ending of GoT was so stupid. But I’d thank it would be safe to assume in true ASOIAF lore dragons cannot cross the wall likely from the magic in it.

This Hodor thread is pretty boring. No one has any thoughts? I think they did a great job of setting the scene in Ep 1:
1) We know that Damon and Rhenyra aren't on the same page.
2) We know that the Greens are in a struggle for who is actually in charge.
3) We now know both sides have struck a big blow and the war is on and there will be no rules.
4) We start to see who is allying with who.
5) we also get some idea of how the greens might use Vhaegar. On one hand, they might use her as a big defensive piece, on the other hand, they might use her as a huge sledge hammer on the offensive.
I can't wait to see how this season plays out!

Is Larys basically the first Master of Whisperers at this point? He has installed all of his own staff so he has spies everywhere now.

When she came back to Dragonstone and stood in front of her council, did she not say that she wanted Aemond?
Daemon sneaks into Kings Landing and hires those 2 guys to sneak into the Red Keep. Pretty sure he told them he wanted Aemond, a son for a son. The assassins just went off on their own interpretation of a son for a son and killed Jaeharys when they couldn't find Aemond in the Red Keep.
Seems like Daemon and Rhaenyra were on the same page but the assassins Daemon hired fricked it up by killing the wrong prince.

The tension is referenced in his convo with Rhaenys. Daemon wants to be bending knees out West but he has to wait for Rhaenyra to give orders and she's out looking for dragon parts and hoods.

1) Rhaenyra went off to find evidence of Luke's body and in the mean time Daemon tried to recruit Rhaenys to help him hunt down Vhaegar without Rhaenyras permission.
2) Rhaenyra did say she wanted Aemond dead and Daemon did try to make it happen but it was clear (possibly from the preview of the next episode?) that Rhaenyra was not happy that Daemon took it upon himself and that it was sloppy and the wrong person died.
I don't think they are in completely different realms but I do think that they don't see eye to eye on how the war should be fought. Rhaenyra wants to be more calculated while Daemon just wants to wreak havoc. I think Rhaenyra sees the bigger picture of needing public support and trust after the war while Daemon is fine with burning everything in his path to the ground.

Larys is a combo of Varys and Littlefinger. He's a really good gamer but his power is limited to how well he can manipulate others since he can't win a fight on his own.

Sounds exactly like Varys and Littlefinger.

I think he is a little more sinister than those two though. I mean killing your own family, who were in a pretty solid place of power politically, to prop up your own station is some evil shite.
