Who is saying it won't kill?

I have seen nobody saying it will bomb.

Taika has been nothing but awesome.

He literally saved the Thor Franchise

I don't remember Thor being dressed like a Gundam in the other movies.

Not so much here saying it’ll bomb but I’ve seen it around the sewers of Twitter and YouTube comments it there are people saying it’ll suck simply because Jane Thor which is dumb especially given the track record of the MCU and Taika

His latest, Our Flag Means Death, is not good. The Portman character is boring and not needed in the Thor series. And you want to make her the star by replacing Thor? OK.

If they get this right Natalie Portman will be forgotten:

Sue Storm

Terms like this become sort of like nazi. They are used without respect to definition and more as a placeholder for negative personal status.

Which is somewhat his point I think.

People don't want to admit it here but Ragnarok, while a fun movie, was a terrible Thor movie. It started the slide toward the ruination of the character that ends up in fat Lebowski Thor by endgame. Thor being taken down by an ugly chick with some Taser discs is bad. Him crying like a junior high girl before he meets the Goldblum Master was even worse.
Ragnarok was an overreaction to the first two Thor movies being rather lackluster. And when Marvel saw what kind of response their breakout star, RDJ, got as wisecracking Tony Stark; you could almost see the lightbulbs going off in the creative teams' heads. "Let's make every superhero movie a Hope/Crosby road picture!" It was a humorous movie, but (outside of one of the single best moments in superhero movies - Led Zeppelin) it wasn't a Thor movie.
And if Waititi had anything to do with the CGI in that movie he should never be allowed near a Marvel property again. It was Hanna-Barbera level atrocious.

I’m sure there will be some cringey Girl Power! scenes, which will be the worst parts of the movie, but overall it’ll be fun.

Same thing with the term woke it’s been vastly overused to describe anything a person on the right doesn’t like

No idea what the storyline is but nobody is clamoring for Thor to be fricking Natalie Portman, not even for a single scene. I bet most MCU fans forgot Portman was even a character. I’m pretty sure Hemsworth is a popular Thor.

They fooled me for in Dr Strange by not advertising the chick subversion at all in the previews (which of course was purposeful)

Oh man this is terrible to hear. I haven't seen Dr Strange 2 yet, but I've been very excited to see it. It and Spider-Man were the only movies I was excited for when they announced the first run of movies to be released. Is it a Dr Strange movie in name only?

I can't see your image, but I highly doubt they'll get Sue Storm right.

Same. They've ruined any possible goodwill they might have gained from me. I won't be blindly going to see MCU films without seeing fan reactions first anymore.

Same with Star Wars. Apparently the new guard at Disney is out to ruin everything it touches.

I don’t disagree with most of this. I will say that I see Thor as the most interesting character arc (sans Thor 2) in the MCU.

Arrogant prince about to become king, stripped of power, regains power by sacrificing himself, decides to protect Midgard instead of taking his role of king, loses his father and hammer (that he receives his self worth from,) learns he’s the God of Thunder, not the God of Hammers, reluctantly assumes the role of leader due to Odin’s death, immediately gets his people cut in half and loses his brother, misses out on avenging then by killing Thanos, becomes a drunken destitute, and is forced back to redeem himself. It’s a wild character arc. Tony was arrogant tech playboy in IronMan 1 who thought he knew better than everybody and he for the most part was the same (albeit settled down) in Endgame. Steve was a guy who wanted to do the right thing in CA: First Avenger and he was the same guy in Endgame.

How Endgame ended and it looks like this is starting, Thor is obviously still completely unsure of himself and looking for validation. Compare his first appearance in Thor to these trailers and I think it’s at least interesting to ask the question of how did he get here.

Just my opining.

It’s a Dr. Strange move overall but Wanda plays a pretty important role as far as Chavez goes she’s mainly a plot device with some character development. There’s no “chick subversion”
