If it encourages young people to seek out the source material and read, then I’m good with that. We’re in a literacy crisis in this country. Anything that might encourage folks to pick up a book is alright even if I don’t end up liking the adaptation.
Agreed. The original film series is good and a classic, but its quite dated. I tried to rewatch a few months ago and I couldn't really get through it. I welcome a new take on it, as long as its not too off the rails. It could be really awesome if they do it right.

sounds like a you problem.
the low budget effects are dated, but the performances and story are still top tier. nothing will ever touch Duvall's Gus or TLJ's Call.

Totally agree, but I do think that a new adaptation could potentially be fun to watch, and introduce a lot of younger folks to the story.

Best miniseries ever and will be made into an abomination by Netflix. I'll watch the original again instead.

Blue Duck will be a beautiful peaceful native american forced into a life of crime by the encroachment of the white man onto the land of his peace-loving forefathers. there will almost certainly be a subplot regarding the plight of the Comanches. as someone else said - Deets will be gender swapped for sure. Lorrie will be played by Zendaya. the heroism and masculinity of Gus and Woodrow will be deconstructed - most likely they will be shells of their former selves, subtly (possibly overtly) racist, and pathetically grasping onto a prior glory (that maybe never really existed except in their minds) while a newer, more progressive world passes them by.

They had a lotta success with their little house on the prairie remake and probably figure they can get the same crowd to watch this.

There are soo many lessons in the Series.
Its great.
The only thing that gets me from time to time, is it is a little cheeky/cheesy.
I think that had to do with the director at the time.
But overall it is great.
It needed to be a little darker and not so cheesy.
Gus as Robert Duvall and Cornel Craw as Tommy Lee Jones was great.
Even all of the supporting cast, their stories were hard.
Ive been waiting to read the book.
Cant wait. They may do a great job. But watching someone else as Gus. Pete, Deets.
Its goin to be hard.
