For those wondering how to travel with Netflix now:
quote:

Signing into Netflix outside of your home may lead to the device in use being blocked from Netflix. This could prevent you from signing into new devices while traveling, but Netflix has devised a workaround.

Traveling users who want to use Netflix on a hotel smart TV, company laptop, etc. can request a temporary code from the service when signing in. This will give them access to their account for seven consecutive days.

They offer 4 sign in’s per account…it should not matter if some of those are in other households.

They haven’t learned much from their failed attempt to split DVD from streaming, apparently.

They did things in such a shitty way that it cost them a lot in the short term even though it allowed them to get out of the DVD business.

I should me amazed at the number of people that think they should be able to exploit something for free.

I'm not.

Netflix is the only service that charges you to have more than one device stream from your account simultaneously. It doesn't matter if you are in your house or not; if you want more than one person to be able to watch TV at the same time you have to pay extra. If they are going to charge me for 2 or 4 screens it should not matter one fricking bit where those screens are being used.

We need a Netflix movie, similar to The Social Network (2010). Including their startup, the hay day, before they lost all of decent the movies, to them starting their own shows, and the rest of the new app folks taking away all of their shows.

It can end with discussion about this thread's topic, and the adults that are still using their parents' log-in can keep saying how great it is, because that's the real story.

It kind of amazed me how many people were willing to pay their cable companies over 100 dollars a month to be bombarded with commercials.

Something tells me that you're one of those people that had no problem with paying to watch 20+ minutes of commercials an hour back in the day.

Netflix literally encouraged it for years.

I pay for four simultaneous streams, I'm not cheating.

I do per the divorce decree, but I also have the out written in there that if location or password restrictions become an issue, the account becomes mine, and she has to get her own.

I just don't care enough at the moment. The last time I was on the couch in front of the TV was over a month ago.

I can't believe you actually have provisions in your divorce decree regarding control of streaming TV services.

They need to just send you an authentication text if you are trying to access it outside of your home.

If you are the account holder you will obviously easily put in the text. If your buddy is logging in 10 times a day you are going to get pretty annoyed sharing the text with him

I did divorce law for several decades, and I am impressed. The husband and wife addressed that issue amongst themselves and showed at mediation with it already resolved.

Serious kudos.

I always laugh at the Netflix customers that bitch and cry about them cracking down or raising prices. In 1997 (The year Netflix was founded) it cost almost $10 to rent two movies for two nights from Blockbuster. And that’s before 25 years of inflation. If you watch 2-4 movies on Netflix in a month it’s more than paid for.

It’s probably one of the better values you’re spending money on today.

Can’t wait for Netflix to do this, lose a ton of subscribers/money only to reverse this decision in 8-10 months.
