I'm curious to why Will, who has such a pedigree as he does with who his father is, hasn't made it in the business already. One would think his dad would have so many contacts for him getting started.
Just a thought...
Why hasn't Tessanne blown up with the years of touring and stage experience she has? Maybe Will has light Aspergers for all I know, nor do I care or that it means he is less talented than the two other contestants.
Will having a father in a group that was very popular 30-years ago has no bearing on whether he has ability, either.

How were the performances this week?
James did U2's "With or Without You"... it was really good, but not spectacular. Hard to say what he could have done better.
Will did an awesome version of Fun's "Carry On"... it was probably my favorite of the night.
Jacquie did "Angel" and was a little shaky at the start then kicked arse. She needed a little change or pace and got it.
Cole did "Shameless" which I thought was going to be awesome but it really was just mediocre.
Then Tessanne came on to close it out and I checked FB on my phone because she bores me to tears.

About exactly what you would expect from everyone, but Cole had a down week.

I can't believe CP has sold > 500k copies of that first single as I can't stand it. Her song last night was better but still like meh. Not really much of a country fan, but thought the Swons were much better than other performers last night although Danielle with the Olympics tie-in tune was very good although well produced for the piece. Had to wait for my wife to go to bed to see the performances last night as she dislikes country, pop country, women with average pop voices and M. Chamuel does nothing for her.

So everyone only did one performance this week?

Correct, only an hour long show. Then a 2-hour Sing-Off premiere.

Watching now.
James did pretty well. Good song choice IMO. Christina not saying anything nice. Go figure.
Will. I feel like he's up and down and is struggling to hit some of the higher notes. I have him behind James so far.
Jacquie. Cliche song, but whatever. It's nice to see her actually singing instead of screanging for once. She'll never sing it as good as Javier did in season one though. But she was the best of the night so far.
Christina looks good. That black dress is banging.
Cole. Awesome, awesome song but I don't like it for him though. It's good, but pretty boring and isn't really showcasing him at all. I have him fourth so far.
Tessanne. Hate her but she was the best of the night.
I'd rank them:
Tessanne
James/Jacquie
Will
Cole
Cole going home. That sucks but not the best time to have a weak performance. He represented Louisiana well. I blame it on Blake not giving him some Jamie N Commons to sing.

I made similar comments regarding Javier and staying true to the song instead of turning into a power ballad gospel tinged psuedo-screech outlet. I think the girl just wants to be Christina II and is not close to harnessing her talent. Therefore my subjective take with some objectivity before the elimination was:
Will
T
James
Cole
JL
I enjoyed James' performances, at least he did a wide range of songs where JL stepped out of her supposed sweet spot maybe 2x. The iTunes version of Will's "Carry On" is quite good. I think Blake needs to up his song choices for non-country team members going forward, his song tool kit was too limited this season but I didn't believe Cole would win, either.
Anyone looking for a good 2.1 system to pair with a computer with a good sound card/chip can do a lot worse than these, on sale $209:

wonder if the final 3 is going to get to pick already established stars they'd like to perform a duet with?

I like that The Voice is still trying to help their alumni w/ their careers

Nah, I have no commercial interest with the company. Excellent system with desktop/laptop, iPod, etc. Last version I had 11 years and use on a different system, new one is much better. Maybe people will be able to hear better next season and make some more reasonable choices.

After reading the last few pages I'm stunned the hate for Tess and the love for JL. JL's voice, even when she isn't screeching at the top of her lungs, just doesn't have a p.easing quality. I was hoping she was getting sent home weeks ago.
As a whole, this season's group of singers, and certainly finalists, isn't anywhere near last seasons.

I thought top 5 was pretty good. Yeah, I never hated T, overall her voice is good, just somewhat surprised as women power singers as a whole have never done all that well on the show and other than 1-2 weeks she pretty much held in at the top 5 level or better. Some may have been offput by her accent and she does have a tendency to over-sing.
If Matthew had been on Adam's team he might have held on as his coach didn't seem to do him any favors, + it seemed like his voice was crapping out on him late in the show.

You will LOVE XFactor Semis tonight, hat. Way better than The Voice Semis. You folks here should watch the XFactor finale next week because I know Alex and Sierra will make it and they are worth watching. They killed it tonight on two songs. About to watch the 3rd.
ETA: Just realized everyone is singing a third song, so that's my opinion for the first two rounds.

If you just watched Alex and Sierra, you'd know. Brought me to tears just now.

She sure screamed it up at the end and totally ruined it IMO. That song is meant to be the artist and a piano, totally naked. I'm just not a fan. I was wanting an all male (no homo) final and I get stuck with the two screamers and the one dude that has no shot.

Look up his history. It's hardly amateur-ish. Songwriting credits on a Grammy winning album. Toured with Glenn Frey of the Eagles. Worked on Michael Jackson's last album.
This is one reason I'm rooting for Jacquie in the final. She is truly an amateur going up against 2 people with extensive careers in the industry. The screaming is irritating, and Christina is awful, but I feel like she is the contestant most consistent with what I feel the show should be.
It's more curious to me why Will would go on the show in the first place and agree to their terrible contract terms given the contacts he would already have in the industry.

Javier and Cassaddee had been fairly successful before The Voice as well... I guess you just can't underestimate the exposure that being on the show gives them.
I had never heard of Javier, Cassaddee, Tessanne, or Will beforehand.
