In the spirit of the recent Sherlock Holmes thread, Dr. Watson was his companion or "Second Banana" always there to support him.
Who are your top people in this thread? It can be a valet, butler, companion, friend but clearly needs to be secondary to the lead.
Here are a few of mine to start the show:
Tonto
Artemis Gordon
Kato
Alfred Pennyworth
Ed McMahon
And away we go!

I guess they were forced to watch Dad's TV oaters around the family set, and their first crushes were on the small screen cowboys.
Second biggest surprise: Rawhide has a healthy following of women (now 65+) who grew up watching the show. The surprise: They are not fans of second banana Clint Eastwood, but star Eric Fleming (who overacts as much Eastwood underacts)

I saw Warlock (1959) not long ago. DeForest Kelley played such a great smartass outlaw, it seems strange that he ended known for "damnit Jim, I'm a doctor not a..."
