everyone knew that if the hybrid got out if it's paddock it would be game over
so when they couldn't get a thermal signature why didn't they just check it's tracking device?

they'd have seen immediately it was still inside, and all would be well

instead, they just walk inside?

they must have hired their scientists from Prometheus

otherwise, I enjoyed it immensely

Plot device.
Plus in real life the dinosaurs would have explosives in their heads.

I still have no idea how Chris Pratt went from being the fat funny side character on Parks and Recreation to the biggest movie star right now

I really like him, but he has fricking exploded the last 2 years

Two overperforming star roles. JW was expected a few weeks back to make $100m opening weekend. Instead it doubled that. GOTG turned out to be a big hit as well.
He is golden right now./

I thought it was hilarious how that swat team was just tazing the I Rex's ankles like some ants.

I don't get why they didn't use a ton of tranquilizer

This movie gave me some thunderous shots in the nostalgia feels.

When they found the old building, and the kids were looking at the painted tapestries, all I could do was sit back and remember seeing them 20 years ago in the theater. And when a slow piano started playing the original theme song, I almost .

I loved JW, and it was a blast to see and really honored the original movie.

"Theme park" so non-lethal weapons and a 26 million dollar investment so yeah.

(Even though not having lethal weapons incase one of those SOBs escapes with 20k people on an island is pretty dumb.)

doesnt make it any less imbecilic

plenty of "plot devices" were available to them that aren't patently foolish, especially with a billion dollar park and thousands of people at stake

i enjoyed the shite out the movie, left there with a huge smile on my face. we all realize that the plot wasnt going to be where this movie shined, but literally every time a human made a decision, it was either devoid of common sense or straight up purposefully stupid

But maybe that was the whole point of the plot, you think you are in control but in reality you never had control in the first place and things like that slip through because you are dealing with unknown situations and you don't know how these animals will react or even had some of the things they had when you started mixing DNA from all these different animals in the lab

On that subject, my buddy thinks the fossil bone older brother picked up and used as a torch is the same bone Grant explains to the dig site visitors in JP that supports his theory that dinosaurs evolved into birds. Maybe he's reaching, but would be a very cool subtle reference if so.

I don't get the hate for the older brother in this thread. He was actually acting his age unlike most popcorn flick portrayals of teenagers. Both kids were good. Chris Pratt was excellent and is probably the biggest draw in Hollywood now.
You could pretty much guess which characters would die within the first 15 minutes, but that didn't take anything away from the movie. It was predictable, but predictably good

How would that bone have gotten there though? I'm pretty sure that bone was part of the T-Rex skeleton that got smashed in the final showdown from Jurassic Park.

Sorry, not referring to any physical bone Grant had at the dig site but rather the same type of bone he pointed to on the seismic "X-ray" of the velociraptor that supported his dinos into birds theory. I presume the same type of bone would be present in T-Rex. Again, may be reaching...

Did they seriously keep the TRex that close to where the people were?

Why not? The park was much safer up until the point
the I Rex got out.

Well look right here

It's amusing seeing the complaints about the older brothers aloof behavior. In retrospect, I was like that as a teenager. You could have put me in the coolest themepark in the world, but if I wanted to be somewhere else for the summer I would have been the same way

Saw it last night IMAX and thought it was cheesy as hell, but that's to be expected. Overall I enjoyed it.

First of all, I LOVED hearing the score from the original movies. One of my favorites.

Beth was so sexy to me. I love redheads.

The Indominus getting snatched from the water was pretty awesome and I really wasn't expecting that.

Lulz at the chopper gunner who couldn't get a single .50 cal bullet into the dinosaur.

Definitely agree. People need to go watch the original if they think these kids were more annoying. Lex is the second most annoying character Speilberg has ever created next to Kate Capshaw's Willie in the Temple of Doom. All Lex did was bitch about being a vegetarian, scream her arse off like an idiot, is dumb enough to turn on a flashlight to get a T-Rex's attention, and somehow in the end she's a genius computer hacker. Her character is clearly the biggest flaw in the film.

I actually liked the kids in this movie and I think they acted like real rational kids. Whenever they went to them, I can't say I was annoyed, so that's a plus.

It's one of the most realistic aspects of the movie. Why it's drawing complaints, I'll never know,

Yeah, the movie never expects us to believe that the girl dumb enough to frantically wave a flashlight around a T-Rex is a computer genius. I bought the sibling relationship and how the teen was a bit less interested in the theme park until he got to the really cool stuff. I think they were both likable and realistic. Don't know how you can fault these kids compared to Lex and Jeff Goldblum's black daughter who does a back hand spring into the face of a raptor.
