The movie wasn't anything special in and of itself, but it was fun as shite from the perspective of someone who loved Jurassic Park as a kid.

I saw it late last night and pretty much agree with everything you said. I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

I said the exact same thing to my friend about everyone feeling safe. Basically the customers/tourists didn't even see the main dinosaur. It had a very safe feeling the entire time after the "bird cage" fiasco. Also I was expecting more carnivores too. The pterodactyls doing all the chaos with the tourists was a bummer

The sheer stupidity of the employees regarding the main dinosaur was a little mind numbing. I know Engen kept everything under wraps, but surely at some point they recognized the dinosaur could camouflage.I thought it'd escape from overpowering the cage, but they didn't really depict how massive they kept saying it was and instead slipped through the front gate.

The raptor scenes were less cheesy than I anticipated, but there was never a classic bone-chilling moment you got in the first.

That's the major stupid issue in this movie I couldn't let really slide. He never once explained the military use for these animals, and then goes even more crazy when he proposes they could send the iRex out on missions. Unless you're a completely depraved sadist that just wants to unleash raptors and iRexes on the Middle East to blindly kill as many men, women, and children as possible, I see no military application for these creatures that a bloodhound or a drone couldn't do.

Yeah, he just briefly elaborated how the raptors could be more precise than widespread carnage from a drone. I mean there's no way they'll open up another park, so will the next have military implications gone bad?

Dino's would easily get fricked up by a bunch of ak's, mortars and rpg's. ISIS or any heavily armed military would have zero issues with them.

Think you're missing the point on this, they wouldn't be soldiers. They are more along the line of drones to be used in wooded/covered areas. the more hidden from the sky (like in a cave or tunnel), the more effective a disposable pack of raptors would be. The target wouldn't know until they struck, and plus you could track them too. Sudden ruckus in some obscure pass in Afganistan= hidden Al Quaeda target has been found, and is fighting off the dinos. Lob a few bombs at that spot.

Dogs work effectively in some aspects of hunting and tracking, even of people. These are far more dangerous, and faster, than dogs.

About the overwhelmingly good reactions to the movie:

it's nice to go see a big budget action movie, with good special effects, and not have to try to piece things together from 6 other movies (who is where, what does this mean). It's nice to be able to get up and leave when the credits start, instead of having to sit and wait for some clue to the next film. Marvel, I'm looking at you: superheroes are cool, but a dozen intertwined movies with conflicted characters is beginning to get tiresome, especially in a world that's increasingly unrealistic. Sometimes I just want 2 good hours of fun with my popcorn!

Entertaining movie, but there were a lot of details that prevented me from suspending disbelief.

It certainly beats the crap out of Jurassic Park 2 and 3.

But how do the raptors know they're attacking the right people? Dogs probably aren't going to massacre the innocents in the same way a raptor can. They track them and corner them. Nothing in a raptor's nature suggests it's going to do that.

It's not as if Chris Pratt was having them do back flips in their pin and having random volunteers come into the pit to do a magic trick with the raptors. All indications say that Sigfried and Roy's white tigers are more well trained than the raptors were. Just one mediocre test, and immediately afterwards the raptors try to kill one of their keepers as well as their trainer they've known from birth, and Vincent D'onofrio thinks they're ready to go out in the field? That's absolute insanity to try to make these animals for military purposes.

Then he proposes sending the iRex out in the field. Sorry, but despite what the guy says, he's clearly just fricking nuts. There is no real military application for blood thirsty ruthless dinosaurs, especially something as evil and vicious as the iRex.

I thought it was stupid awesome and I want to see it a couple more times in theatres.

I absolutely loved the movie. It was a great mix of comedy and drama and suspense and action and it was over the top and ridiculous and fantastic.

I can't believe I come here to talk about the awesomeness of the movie and yall are in a 5 page debate over the practical application of generically modified dinosaurs in the middle east.

Good god.

I loved the movie, but you're late to the thread. We're at the point where we are debating subtle nuances.

Well I just saw it! Lol.

Did we discuss what the hell happened to the black guy yet?

Chris Pratt saves him in that hallowed out tree and then everyone just forgets he exists?

I don't think we have. I think he probably made it out, but he could have easily been killed by the iRex or the straggling raptor.

I agree with you about pretty much everything. I hated D'Anafrio's character.

You missed out on a pretty good movie. Saw in IMAX 3D today and was impressed with just about everything. There are a few things that could have been better, but the good far outweighs the not so good.

It's the major flaw of the film.

Everyone was discussing that as the theater emptied.

Great catch on your part.

It's sort of funny that this movie is getting so many positive reviews on this board with all the film snobs here I'm generally pretty easy on movies, and Pratt and the dinos were pretty awesome, but most every other human sucked. The plot was forced a lot at times too.
