In Casablanca, inside Rick's Cafe Americain, an obnoxious group of drunk uniformed Germans are loudly singing Nazi songs, while the rest of Rick's customers are looking glassy-eyed and depressed. Then a key character stands up and with Rick's nodded approval, tells Rick's regular band to strike up "le Marseillais" and the crowd goes wild - stands, starts singing, the Germans try to drown out the French voices and band, the French voices and the band just play louder. In the end, the Germans slink away and by this point I am in tears. "Vive le France!"

A great scene, in a great movie. The last girl shown singing is in tears, even though she had just been in the company of German officer in the club. Nationalism at its best.

You know, from our perspective in history, we know who won WW II. But at the time of that movie and the time it depicted, the war's outcome was far from a done deal. The Germans were winning everything in sight and these people singing were doing so at their own peril. In real life, the closest thing I can relate this to in my lifetime is the Cold War, when nobody knew for sure whether the Soviets were the wave of the future, or if the USA and Western democracy would prevail. There is trouble in the world today, it's true. But nothing like things were in the Casablanca/real WW II days, when nobody was sure what the winning side would be. Thus the nationalism, thus the emotions being expressed in the song, and the significance of Rick's quiet approval of the singing and playing of "le Marseillais," and thus my tears at this powerful scene.

Not a movie but a book. I almost had a fricking panic attack when I thought harry was dead. My throat, eyes, nose everything was all fricked up for at least an hour.

I cried in the last HP movie. Some little black kid was sitting behind me and I knew he saw a tear. I bet he was thinking what a big ole bitch I am.

I cried during 50/50. SPR when he asks if he is a good man.

Like a lot of people I get emotionally invested in some movies.

Many of the ones mentioned have gotten to me.
Forest Gump
Saving Private Ryan
My Life (Michael Keaton movie I didn't see mentioned)
Armageddon

and a shite ton more, any movie where a awesome animal gets hurt or killed.
