Norman Lear is about as far to the Left as you can get. If he wanted to make it, it would get made.

Bad News Bears (Original) was the first to come to mind when I saw the thread title

Well that was the 70's and they did remake it and it sucked because they took out all the edgy, risque, non-pc humor. Who the frick wants to watch kids just play baseball with a PC storyline? Why didn't they let Billy Bob go full Bad Santa?

As for the 80s teen comedies...Sixteen Candles..."Dong! Grandpa is talking to you! Chop-chop! "

Grandma and grandpa basically get an exchange student to be their slave, every time the Donger is on screen a Chinese Gong rings

Then have all issues of a Senior pursuing an underage girl, the insinuated rape by Anthony Michael Hall where she wakes up and says, "I think I liked it."

You could go on and on how this movie couldn't be made today.

Everyone says this, but have yet to see anyone ever be offended at this movie who watched it. Hell Modern Taratino movies are more controversial and they get made

I agree with Hank on this one. I have a neighbor, delightful gal who avoid politics but is quite liberal. Her husband is a solid conservative/libertarian and we've both tried to get her to watch Blazing Saddles and she refuses because she thinks it's racist. Telling her Richard Pryor was one of the writers raised her eyebrows a bit, but she still won't watch it. It's almost like she's afraid she'll like it and therefore be a racist (except it's the exact opposite of a racist movie).

Apparently Terminator is on that list.

I'm going to stay on the Ah-nahld train for my answer: Conan the Barbarian.

Strong, white, straight male lead, no strong female characters written to outshine the mail lead, no positive LGBTQANUS+ messaging, villain was black, and of course, Conan's answer to "what is best in life?"

Honorable Mention (but only because it was never a big movie):

Trading Places. I think of it as a Christmas movie and could not find it on a streaming service. I will have to buy it on Prime.

I've seen all three. What would make them unable to be remade or made today? I mean two were teen sex comedies. Revenge of the Nerds was funnier than Porky's in my opinion.

A new version of Conan the Barbarian with Jason Momoa in the lead role was released in 2011:

It was kinda meh...

I mean if we're talking a 100% remake nerds ain't getting greenlit with casual revenge porn voyeurism and a rape (?) scene.

Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers. Talk about catching lightning in a bottle. I'd throw in Chopping Mall as well. These are true time capsule movies that if made today, the woke crowd would be up in arms.

I think what that means is more of these funny, not serious horror flicks should be made again. Who doesn't love tits and blood? and specifically Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, blood on tits.

Fairly certain if To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar were in the movie theatre today you'd have the Karen's and Proud Boys trying to shut down the movie theaters.
