I assume that is Spiderman 3. I can only assume because I have avoided it ever since it came out.

I didnt think it was random at all- primal, animalistic sex in a movie about our innate capacity for violence

Random in the sense that angry hate sex on the stairs is the last thing I would have thought about at that juncture of the movie.

Wow. I thought that is one of the most crucial scenes in the movie. It shows his descent into violence, but also how his wife is more attracted to him because of that violence. It shows how he has new vitality by accepting his true nature.
For me... it's the alien abduction scene in Fire in the Sky. It is a great, terrifying scene that belongs in a much better movie. The rest of the movie is a bit of a mess, but wow. That scene is beyond intense.
