*Starting at Earth, 'present day', the image draws back further and further, always looking at Earth. Then the solar system, our Sun, et... the camera continues, the sounds progressively get older and older, representing our sphere of technology that reaches out across space. All of our radio and TV signals that started here over the years and decades, are still traveling in the void of the cosmos.
The very last thing we hear? The 'S.O.S' signal, presumably sent out by the HMS Titanic, in April of 1912.

The shot of the rebel ship being chased by the gigantic destroyer was an incredible open which shows the viewer the difference in scale between the two powers, but also sets the stage for the entire saga. Also, at the time, those special effects were the most advanced and realistic on film.
I'm no Star Wars nerd, but I saw that in the theatre as a kid, way back in 1977, and I can still remember being in awe.

Idk about “powerful” but the intro to Belly was legendary. I really wish Hype Williams had stayed active

It wasn’t a perfect movie but I will always remember the opening scene of Gangs of New York. Looking back the mid fight music was corny as hell but everything leading up to it was intense. Also a prime Daniel Day Lewis going up against Liam? It was a flawed movie with some amazing performances and the opening scene sticks with me to this day.

This and it's no contest... and the Normandy beach scene was just the lead in to the real opening scene and everyone knows it. The cinematic equivalent of a grace note.

That opening battle in the Revenant is one of the most intense things I've ever seen in a theater.
The way they use the river in the cinematography with all the chaos going around.

Chrissy in Jaws is the only answer to OP's question.
I've long said that might be the most terrifying scene on film

They clipped out the part of him looking at all the people he was about to kill while waiting at the gate. That was a nut kicker.

Above is the actual opening scene to Saving Private Ryan and it lasts for four minutes so what you are obviously talking about, while really riveting, is not the opening scene but rather an early scene. The opening scene needs to open the movie and can't come after a clearly different scene. We just did this topic recently and someone mentioned A Touch of Evil, which is a good one:
