I'm starting to think this is widely more pervasive than we might even already think. It's just good fodder to pull people into the debate, she falls for the troll accounts, she lacks an ability to respond thoughtfully, and boom - easy win for eyes and ears, and further divison.

And there's no bottling that genie anymore. You have to enter the online space now and just assume what you are doing/seeing is fake and go from there. Healthy skepticism.

Bold strategy, retard

What is the deal with women actresses not being able to keep their mouths shut?

That's pretty much what she was talking about, she wasn't attacking Christian dads just dudes who claim to be Christians leaving hateful comments about things like appearance.

There's absolutely a segment of people online who use religion as a cloak then leave pretty fricked up or hateful comments on a number of things.

honest question for you - how is it any different than you and a handful of other posters who constantly come on here to counter comments made by posters here? is THAT not social media outrage? the cycle is always the same

1) Hollywood does something or says something stupid
2) (mostly) conservative posters act shocked and outraged and call out the stupid thing
3) (mostly) liberal posters act shocked and outraged and call out the conservative posters at their shock and outrage

what makes you better?

Her definition of "hateful comments" almost certainly does not align with what most people would consider hateful. Modern leftists view even the slightest opposition as hateful. Want your favorite characters to reflect everything you've ever known about them? Hateful.

Not starting the cycle.

Actors and directors say stupid and offensive things every day, but i haven't seen anyone coming in here and starting threads against Rob Schneider or Kevin Sorbo or any other right-wing entertainer. Outside of this board? Yes, I see right-wingers called on their behavior. But in here it's 99% "conservatives" starting threads because their fragile lives have been upended by an entertainer that they never had any intention of patronizing in the first place.

Starting thread after thread against a minor star like Milly Alcock is just fricking ridiculous.

Collectively her comments amount to something else obviously. She uses a bunch of left coded language and amplifies what should be smoothed over or ignored. You don't want to respond and engage in the YouTube comments section. No celebrity benefits by attacking the mean Twitter tweets.

She's playing this game like no one learned anything. If you are a male movie star and some fans(male or female) attack you for being ugly you ignore it (Jonah Hill seems like a decent general example). You don't help yourself by attacking the identity group supposedly attached to the anonymous (possibly fake) account from overseas, a bot, or whatever.

Even if there's a real person there who doesn't like you? You don't want their insults to stay in the news cycle because of your response. You don't benefit from that.

The same common sense approach that works for other people would also help Milly Adcock. It would not have benefitted Gina Carano or Chris Pratt to use the Milly Adcock approach either. If Pratt ran around calling his critics cat ladies or communists his career would probably be over.

So you're better than stupid actors, just like the rest of us. Pretty low bar honestly.

it's impossible to have a good faith discussion when you all insist on stating things like this. you know it's not true. you know it has nothing to do with fragility or lives being upended, but you say it anyways just to be antagonistic, then act like you are above it. ridiculous.

It pervasive. The same people who sometimes accuse others of being hateful seem to rush to use terms like fragile, snowflake, incel, whatever.

The insults are not meaningful and they aren't effective. Sometimes they appear to just be projections.

The online forums do amplify this behavior. Clickbait and outrage are the rule. The appropriate thing to do would be to talk to other people like you prefer to be talked to and to assume the possibility of honest disagreement.

Neither of us know what comments she's talking about but I have absolutely seen a lot of comments about her appearance and even a fake image of her one of which that's posted in this thread.

You're just assuming because she's on the opposite political side the comments aren't actually hateful.

Inferring that I'm the sort of person that refers to people as incels puts you in the same category as you've placed me.

I'll stand by the use of "fragile". We're in a thread created by someone who was so offended by a mid-level Australian actress that they felt the need to start a fourth or fifth topic on the subject.

You have to wonder about anonymous douchebags who appoint themselves BOARD POLICE.

This is a fricking MOVIE BOARD. People comment about MOVIES.

A little tip for you, since you are the anointed board police officer, and feel compelled to comment again and again: if you have an issue with what I've posted, simply remove yourself from the thread. No one placed a gun to your head and forced you to spout your holier than thou BS.

there is already a thread for the movie right above this one if people wanna discuss the movie.

The funny thing is it has 7 posts today whereas this conservative outrage post has 58.

So I stand by my statement that the posters in here LIVE for this dumb shite. They'd rather rant about some B level actress than discuss movies.
