Man, we are about to lose some of the greatest, most likeable actors in my lifetime. Guys like Caine, Eastwood, Duval, and Freeman are in the twilight years. Today's Hollywood doesn't deserve their talent anyway.

Holy shite, he is 90.

It’s always shocking seeing these older actors when they’ve stepped away from the limelight for a few years. I have this mental image of them as actor old, but then they’re old man old. Gene Hackman was another.

Hell of a career Michael.

I've seen some recent pics of Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Dick van Dyke and Bob Newhart and they all look so frail, especially Eastwood and Hackman who both portrayed tough guys on screen in many of their films.

The pics I saw of them show them gaunt, hunched over and looking like they are knocking on death's door, and they are at their age.

Best Alfred of all time

Amazing he’s the only one who recognized the most famous Billionaire in the world in this scene

He gave a great interview in a recent 007 documentary about how he was roommates with John Barry when Barry was working on Goldfinger. Caine was literally the first person in the world to hear the song “Goldfinger.”

Imagine if Bruce inherited Bale’s commitment to dramatic weight swings and looked like Dick Cheney or The Machinist when he looked across the cafe

Caine won Best Supporting Actor Oscars for his turns in Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and Cider House Rules (2002). His career launched in the 1960s with classics like Zulu and The Italian Job.

In recent years, Caine has resisted the industry’s push toward wokeness and political correctness. Just earlier, this year, he mocked the U.K. government’s push to label his class film, Zulu, an “extremist” work.

“That is the biggest load of bullshite I have ever heard,” he said. “Even if the past is uncomfortable, and perhaps especially when the past is uncomfortable, it needs to be examined and unpacked rather than hidden away. Of course race is a central theme in the film.”

Zulu is the shite

quote:

As inexplicable as Michael Caine's casting in Jaws 4: The Revenge might seem at a glance, the distinguished British actor explained his reasoning himself in a 1992 memoir called What's It All About?. According to Caine, he and his family were preparing to move from Los Angeles to Oxfordshire, England, and were having a house built. Unfortunately, the building costs ended up being way more than anticipated, and Caine was experiencing a bit of a dry spell acting-wise, so things were getting worrisome. Then, Caine was offered what he calls a "tremendous free" to appear in Jaws 4, reportedly around $1.5 million dollars for a week's work.

quote:

The money he made off Jaws 4 enabled Caine to finish building his new home without issue, leading to this amazingly honest quote: "I have never seen the film, but by all accounts it was terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific." Additionally, Caine was enticed by the prospect of filming a movie in the Caribbean, bringing his family along and having what he considers "a great holiday." Amusingly though, filming Jaws 4 cost Caine the change to accept his first Oscar, as he couldn't leave set due to a tight production schedule.

Frankly, he should have won for California Suite. He was paired with Dame Maggie and she won. The only (to date) winner for portraying an fictional Oscar nominee.

(He wasn't even nominated for the Oscar...)
