I thought the character as a villain stood out. It wasn't a cookie-cutter all-evil guy. I actually thought he was more interesting on-screen than the hero, Black Panther.

Much in the same way Marvel delivered us nuanced villains like Thanos, Loki and Keaton's Vulture, Killmonger had some interesting layers.

With that said, I think my favorite Marvel villain was the all-to-brief-onscreen purely-evil badass, Ebony Maw.

I thought he was the best thing in an otherwise boring and predictable movie. I like my villains to ham it up a bit, the best ones do - Oldman in The Professional, Rickman in Die Hard and Robin Hood. Hell, Goldblum and Blanchett in Thor Ragnarok.

Thank you. Most overrated actor in Hollywood, a dim bimbo who still gets parts because of his ability to gobble cock.

Like Jamie Foxx.

Watched a bit last night. Got bored quickly and changed the channel. I got up to the part where he heads to Wakanda. He actually had a very small role up that point.

Him and Thanos are the only legit badass villains in the Marvel Universe imo.

He's the type of actor Hollywood keeps trying to make bigger than he is.

I never got past him being Johnny Storm in the horrible "Fantastic 4"

He really needs to stick with ensemble work to cover up his very average acting.

And it really isn't close. The movie is fine. Definitely nowhere near the top tier. Which sucks because BP came on so strong in Civil War.

Idk man. He’s pretty damn solid in both Creed movies and Just Mercy. Before that he was always pretty good in Friday Night Lights

ETA: forgot about Fruitvale Station

I think he acted too hard trying to be hood...like he was great in Friday Night Lights and some other films but when I saw Black Panther, it was kinda over the top.

Killmonger gotta be one of the best names for a villain though, plus that Gold Jaguar suit he wore was superb, better than Tchalla's

Villain motivation beyond "Hydra is now all" or "Tony Stark did something".

Actual motivation for the hero to do more and kind of wins in the end.

I watched this for the first time the other day. I have to agree, his acting wasn't good and I generally like him. The screenplay was kind of a mess too. WIthin 10 minutes after throwing t'challa over the waterfall they're already fighting again?

I hated Killmonger's background more than I hated MBJ's acting.

They were like, he's a Navy grad that went to MIT grad school and then was he special ops best sniper.

They made that character ridiculous OP'd.

But yeah MBJ was also overacting.
