Mel Gibson set to star in satire about Rothschild family

Cannes is looking like a particularly busy market for Mel Gibson.
The actor's latest project and his third hitting the Croisette — Rothchild — will see him star alongside Shia LaBeouf, with Jon S. Baird (Stan & Ollie) in the director's chair.
The black comedy will center on Becket Rothchild (Shia LaBeouf) — the bastard child of a mother, who in eloping with a jazz musician was cast out from the Rothchild family and its vast fortune — who was never given a fair lot in life. All grown up and armed with charisma, intelligence and a flair for opportunity, it does not take long for Becket to fully grasp the immense gap between his situation and the richest 1 percent, which should be his birthright. He has a plan.
There are precisely nine Rothchild family members who stand between him and his fortune, including Whitelaw (Gibson), his sinister grandfather. How hard could it be for them each to meet with an “accident”? With the unique advantage of being unknown to any of them, Becket penetrates the weird and twisted lives of his super-rich kin amongst frat boys, hipster artists and reality TV stars. The only thing that threatens to get in the way is love, both old and new.

My policy is, the more Mel Gibson the better.

Mel Gibson doing a film about the Rothchilds is an idea whose time has come.

Hollywood is so stupid. Go on a drunken mildly anti Semitic rant and get blackballed forever. But frick a kid and you’ll have people coming out of the woodworks to defend you.

Sounds like Kind Hearts & Coronets.

Why do you think it’s that way in Hollywood?
You aren’t wrong.

Anytime you investigate them you are called "antisemitic".

Sounds a lot like politics.
If someone is on your side of the spectrum, believe nothing bad.
If someone is on the opposite side, believe everything bad.

To be fair, molested kids don't run Hollywood.

He might make a good replacement for Harrison Ford in the role of Indiana Jones. Such a shame they never tried that, but I guess they wanted to leave the franchise at 3 films, and 3 films only.

Mel's portrayal of the Scot, Edward Murray in The Professor and the Madman was epic. Will look forward to this one.

What's actually worse is Hollywood never forgave him for The Passion of the Christ.
In a rare move of politics and ideology, Hollywood passed on Passion refusing to fund it and they realized what a collosal stupid fricking mistake it was.
Hollywood is better when it's just about the money...when they cared just about the money they made better movies instead of trying to make political statements in movies and worrying about messages.
Old Hollywood would have funded Passion just like they did Ben-Hur because they knew it would make a frick-ton of money.
But Gibson got rejected and then gave them the middle finger as he rode off with a King's ransom in profits and it pissed them off something awful.
That was the first time you saw Hollywood be really Clanish (like every studio came together and blackballed the picture) and making Jewish identity politics a bigger priority over profit.
