Is there a better rendition to the book or a more tear jerking movie out there?

I know it’s just a dog to most you baws

Throw in sounder and you have three of the most depressing movies ever made. It’s like this country went through a 20 year period where we felt children needed to watch a movie that dealt with the loss of a dog above anything else.

Agreed. If it's your dog, then there's no such thing as "just a dog". I ain't watching a movie where the dog dies. Period. Well, except for John Wick, and I skip over that part.

I read the book when it came out.

This! Marley's vet scene makes me misty eyed, but when Hachi ages and still keeps going to the train station it makes me bawl.
