What is wrong with you? Do you have sleep apnea? Worst take on this show for sure!

They did a great job of creating sympathy for the victim. The entire episode I just kept saying to myself, damn that poor girl lol

I just binged the first 3 episodes. I don’t think I’ve ever been as saddened by a movie/tv death as I was for this poor girl.

This has a strong mystic River vibe. I love it so far.

We'll be watching tonight. After episode two's ending this should be very entertaining.

Haven't seen episode 3 yet.

But my first thought is that the Deacon did it. She was part of the youth group. He seemed weird or sad. It may have just been showing him being sad about not reaching out to her. If she has his kid, he has lots to lose. She needed a father figure with her home issues.

Also I have no idea what Guy Pearce sees in Mare. One nighter, sure. But why invite her to that party? Something is weird there as well.

They for sure want you to believe he has something to do with her the way that scene played out.

Why did she even go back inside the party after he invited her and then ignored her. She doesn't seem that she would be that type of person.

Deacon seems to be too obvious now and something is weird with the cousin.

Can't get a read on Pearce but he's got to be part of the bigger picture.

Insanely stupid move by Mare with the drugs, after taking all that care with gloves and being seemingly very sharp, that is just plain dumb.

Has it been mentioned what his popular book was about?

Anyway, Deacon has some splaining to do.

Total bonehead move. Mare should have played chess instead she played checkers. That chick is an addict, she's destine to relapse on her own. Be supportive so she doesn't shut you out. Then be ready to pounce when she screws up again! Mare is lucky to still have her job. Interested to see how this effects both investigations.

I get that she was obviously willing to do anything especially after the kids mom basically said she doesn’t care about the ticks the kid is starting to show and it sounds like she has mental issues beyond that of being addict of her own. But man that was sloppy and lazy.

Pay some junkie $50 who doesn’t know you’re a cop to go score you some heroin or something or just wait it out as you said.

Of course the problem with waiting it out is what happens to the kid in the meantime and it’s pretty obvious she blames herself for her son’s death.

I think that this was done and apart of the show for a reason. It illustrates that she is willing to do whatever it takes to protect her family and people she cares about. Even if it is reckless and sloppy.

I was thinking the exact same thing unless….

A. The Erin mystery is solved relatively quickly and they move on to the Bailey disappearance

Or….

B. This turns out similar to true detective season 1 where we get hooked into the mystery early on and the later episodes focus more on a character study with the murder mystery as the background

Spoilers incoming....

I think after the deacon is shown throwing the bike in the river thats the end of the erin murder mystery. Not sure where it goes from here.

No way that’s just it. There’s surely something coming. So the county detective didn’t really “solve” the case is what I got out of his statement.

Don't know, if that's what they were getting at but he was weird about describing how he solved it! As far as the Deacon goes, it cant be that obvious. Also I'm convinced in the end, both Erin and Katie's are connected in some way!

The Deacon is probably the real father. He probably didn't kill her though.

Guy Pearce is still the leading suspect for me. Just seems like the obvious "charming stranger that's new to town" type suspect.
