They didn't even hide that. They used the Anzellans in a lot of social media ads directed at kids.

What do you fricking expect with Disney? Do you honestly think that they bought the IP with the intention of preserving the story’s integrity like how Lucas originally wanted it to be?

The corporate heads at Disney have always viewed Star Wars as nothing more than a cash cow. If you can’t figure that out, then I don’t know what else to tell you.

you do realize Lucas picked Kathleen Kennedy to run things right? Before he sold to Disney.

I saw it last night. And I didn’t hate it at all. It was a fun movie.

It didn’t even try to do anything to build the Star Wars world. Didn’t set anything up. But that’s ok. It was action packed, looked good, wasn’t preachy. Sometimes it’s ok to have a less serious story. If Star Wars was a healthy brand with consistent tent pole movies this movie would be considered fine. But that’s not where Star Wars is.

Just got out. It was fine.

The biggest thing I noticed was that I’m not sure who this movie was aimed at. It’s both a Disney children’s movie and an ultra-violent action movie. And it’s kind of mean-spirited at times with the violence. The Mandalorian burned a lot of guys to death. And they all screamed and flailed in agony. He straight up murdered a room full of unarmed stormtroopers at the beginning. He stabbed a guy in the kidneys. And then he pushed the knife in a second time. Also, the arena monsters seemed to be sentient creatures forced to fight, because the second they saw the power go down, they recognized it and ran. Kinda makes killing them seem cruel.

And then Blinkus did some cute stuff with a mouse droid.

It simultaneously had a lesson about always wearing your seatbelt and had a dad bring his baby on very dangerous missions. Or maybe he isn’t a baby. Maybe Blinkus is just retarded. Cause sometimes the story needed him to accomplish something and sometimes it needed him to eat a bug.

Those critiques aside, not a terrible movie. It held my attention and looked really pretty. It’s certainly better than the Sequels.

I agree. Really enjoyable as I took the boys last night. I really was not expecting much but the action throughout the movie kept me involved.

Just saw it. I’m an OG Star Wars fan from the 80s. I really liked it. It reminded me of the books that came out after ROTJ with Luke going on adventures dealing with bad guys after the fall of the Empire. It was well made and was a fun movie. I couldn’t find anything to hate about it and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Know your genre. Space Western, fun adventure. Watch it like you’re a 10 year old boy going on an adventure. Relax. Have fun. Enjoy.

All this i agree with

This is all about creating the next geneeation of fans as we age out. That being said, not every movie has to be drowning in lore. It can just be fun

I remember waiting on line for hours for Phantom Menace. Being excited for months for Force Awakens. Now I barely care about Star Wars. Disney really messed it up.
i made a thread back in February about this exact sentiment.

3 months before a major SW release. 1st major release in years.

Hardly anyone was talking about it.

So crazy how thoroughly Disney has tarnished the IP.

Just got out with my 7 year old. He didn’t really like it. He kept asking me how long is left.

I thought it was ok. They could have shaved 15 minutes out of the Mando healing scenes.

Jabba’s kid was pretty stupid.

to each their own, I just saw the movie and thought the writing and story were just sad. the characters and actors weren't an issue, it was just a bad story. Best I could think to associate it with is picture Army of Darkness as a star wars movie and then remove the comedy. So many story points that happened for no other reason than they needed it to happen. Forget Beskar Armor the Plot Armor was impenetrable.

I thought it was an ok movie/time filler. It was basically like some middle/filler episodes of one of the Mandalorian tv show seasons.

But with that said, can the new republic not up their recruiting budget to get some younger fighter pilots. All of the fighter pilots looked like they should've been kicking back in a retirement home somewhere.

It was okay. It felt choppy with the three different sections. The pit scene fighting the beasts was cheesy CGI crap though. If anyone I know asks my opinion, I'll just tell them to wait for it to come on Disney+

It was decent enough but it seemed like just another long episode of the series.

Star Wars needs more movies like this. And truthfully, you can do both. When Marvel was at their best they had movies that built lore within their own world, but had nothing to do with the overall Marvel lore or just story in general. I think this could have done that, but for Mando and not necessarily Star Wars as a whole.
