You shouldn’t be allowed to vote. That movie is up there as one of the worst of all time.

There is one scene where the “fighter group” is running up and I was half expecting them to break into a song and dance number from West Side Story.

C'mon man.

I'm not going to cop out and say its a "guilty pleasure" but has great action with a good story.

Zulu should be a top seed, in all honesty.

I’ll give you the 1st Hunger Games, although, I don’t think it has much rewatchability, but Divergent is a bad movie.

K-mart Hunger Games, IMO.

I couldn’t get passed that scene of them running and laughing.

Maybe it’s the main character. I just don’t think she has the gravitas to pull off that role.

I knew the 1st John Wick was super popular, but I didn't realize 2 and 3 were just as popular. It's early, but those things are headed for some of the top seeds. Kind of surprising.

I think bond movies should be excluded or one part of the bracket be all bond movies.

Also,

Jaws
Minority Report
The Outlaw Josey Wales

And if dune and blade runner are in here,

Empire Strikes Back

Let me know if you think we should exclude super-hero movies

I think blood splatter packs and special effects makeup and real life action set pieces when I think Action Movie. John Wick, Mad Max Fury Road and Dark Knight were recent achievements in this along with any Mission Impossible.

peaked in the 80s and early 90s.

Exclude superhero movies and anything that predominantly used post production to achieve a result. This is vague but you know what I mean based on the above..

ETA:Terminator 2 represents the shift between the two eras.

I dont see Independence Day listed yet. That movie was a pretty big deal.

Other 90s:
The Rock
Con Air
True Lies
The Mummy
Fight Club
Speed

Edit (others that came to mind):
Beverly Hills Cop
Big Trouble in Little China
Top Gun
Leathal Weapon
Mad Max

Someone posted No Country for Old Men, which is one of my all-time favorite movies, and I kind of dismissed it as an action movie. But just thinking about it, it definitely is. It's got explosions, numerous shootouts, murder, etc. It's like a non tradition yet traditional action flick.

I wouldn’t count that as action.

I would count Sicario as action though.

I have intentionally excluded all "Action Films" in which the "action" is all either CGI or cartoonish (e.g. 300, Sin City, the Kill Bill films, the John Wick films and the Matrix films)

Trying to figure out what was "cartoonish" or "CGI" about John Wick?

The Japanese Jui-Jitsu choreography in that movie is perhaps some of the best ever. It's almost all master-level execution and was NOT CGI or cartoonish.

There's a fair amount of people around here that don't consider The Dark Knight a super-hero movie. I'm looking at you Freauxen. But as the tournament host, I will allow myself to make one ruling decision and count TDK as a super-hero movie, like any sane person would, therefore ruling them ineligible from this January Madness.

What’s the reasoning for allowing people to pick like 30 movies? I feel like that artificially inflates the standings

We are going to need tournaments to determine who can enter the tournament.

I'm just voting for Predator again which should be a #2 seed.

Is Arnold going to get his own Region all by himself?

Also voting for Commando again. For the jump edit alone.

To encourage more voting. If everybody just mentions one or two movies you get just a bunch of movies with one or two votes. The more movies listed the better, it helps the seeding. I don't mind counting as many movies as I need to.
