I think you should exclude westerns, also. That's it's own genre.

Well wouldn't that be excluding Die Hard? Or would that be excluding Christmas movies?

Point being Action is an overreaching genre across the spectrum.

I have intentionally excluded all "Action Films" in which the "action" is all either CGI or cartoonish (e.g. 300, Sin City, the Kill Bill films, the John Wick films and the Matrix films).

Seven Samurai (1954)
Spartacus (1960)
The Magnificent Seven (1960)
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966)
The Dirty Dozen (1967)
Bullitt (1968)
Dirty Harry (1971)
Magnum Force (1973)
Mad Max (1979)
Escape From New York (1981)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
First Blood (Rambo I) (1982)
Commando (1985)
Aliens (1986)
The Rock (1986)
Predator (1987)
Lethal Weapon (1987)
Die Hard (1988)
La Femme Nikita (1990)
Point Break (1991)
Léon: The Professional (1994)
The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)
Air Force One (1997)
The Bourne Identity (2002)
Pirates of the Caribbean (2003)
The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)
Gladiator (2000)
Crank (2006)
Taken (2008)
Hanna (2011)
Olympus, London & Angel Have Fallen (2013-19)

EDIT:

A lot of people have forgotten older films.

To the extent that things like the John Wick and Kill Bill films are included, they should enter the voting as a unit (e.g. all 3 Wick films or both Kill Bill films as one entry), because they just tell one long story and are indistinguishable from one another.

My vote is to exclude Super Hero Films, as they are their own category.

I did not include it because I don't see it as and "Action Film," but outstanding nonetheless. Noomi Rapace does not get nearly the credit that she deserves as an actress.

You look at that list and there's no denying those are all action movies. The Professional slipped my mind, I'll probably need to add that to mine. Never really considered the Kill Bill films as cartoonish though. Over the top at times obviously, but it is just a modern samurai movie. I'd have a hard time not putting The Matrix on a action movie list, even if it's not traditional.

Ben Hur(1959)
Almost include this one, because it has a few OUTSTANDING action sequences, but (in the end) they are just action sequences spliced into a period drama film.

I probably need to add Zulu to my list... I watch it every time its on TCM but its been awhile. I probably saw it on Amazon or Netflix the last time I watched it but I don't think its streaming on those currently.

Which is why excluding super hero films doesn't make any sense other than some posters just don't like them.

Maybe there needs to be some prerequisites for being included. Like having at least two explosions, one extended chase scene, etc.

Probably has as many action sequences as Raiders of the Lost Ark but Ben Hur is a 3 1/2 hour epic.
