Didn't see a thread about it. It's a reality dating show with people typically on the autism spectrum. My wife was watching this and I watched a couple of episodes with her. I wasn't too keen on watching at first as I figured it would devolve into exploiting these folks, but so far it hasn't. It does a good job showing the struggle they go through as they become adults and start dating.

You do laugh some, but you're not laughing at them derogatively. Like one guy went to a speed dating night for autists. They gave each person a sheet of paper with the names of the prospective dates with a "yes" and "no" column for each name. Dude was checking no while the girls were still at the table talking to him.

It’s a great show. I have a child on the spectrum and the show is enjoyable and gives me additional insight into how he processes social situations.

I watched the trailer for it and just couldn't pull the trigger. Guess I will give it a try.

have watched part of season 2 and all of season 1. It's such a heartwarming show. It's impossible not to root for them.

Wouldn't it be dangerous for 2 people with autism to have a kid?

Sometimes they do (and say) the things we all wish we had the balls to. Great show.

I love this show. Season two is really good as well and introduces two great characters in Conner and Tanner. Tanner’s energy and positivity is so heartwarming, and Conner is hilarious without even knowing it. I cracked up when Conner asked the girl at speed dating if she had any allergies to break the ice and was marking no while the girls were still at the table.

Great show. We’ve watched both seasons of the American and Australian versions. Really makes you feel for these people and realize how alike we all are, how we all have the same needs.

I highly recommend Down for Love as well. Another great show.

Just binged the first season. Gosh damn man every single one of these people are awesome (except maybe Dani) and I hope they all find someone.

I’m surprised Kaelynn from the first season has trouble finding someone. She’s pretty attractive and is only slightly quirky. I feel like if you met her in real life you wouldn’t think she was autistic or anything unless she told you.

I think she's just incredibly picky and is one of those people who hates her town and it's culture so she's just negative.

It sounds like if you hunt or fish you're automatically eliminated and think about that within the context of like south Louisiana. It seems like she's in a similar place culturally

Bc of this thread I started S2 last night and really dig it. It sounds like some of them were also on season 1 I gather...which season do y'all think is "better", or are they basically the same? If I continue liking S2 I'll definitely go back and watch 1.

Also on a somewhat related note I guess...there was a show about 5-10 years ago that followed a group of special needs folks (I think a few had Downs but not sure all of their afflictions) that my wife and I really liked. I remember one of the main girls started like a clothing line or something, and her mom was pretty decently hot. One of the guys was obsessed with megan trainor. Then it just disappeared and we never heard from it again. Anyone remember that show or what it was called?

Just started Season 2. James is the man.

It fricked me up a little when he said he had been to 20-30 speed dating events and got no matches. He said he wondered if he got matches but the organizers didn’t tell him because it’s statistically unlikely that he wouldn’t have gotten any matches with that many events. He said he wasn’t going to let that discourage him though and he would stay positive

I get the vibe that James’s dad was a player back in the day. Dude gives pretty solid dating advice

My cousin is a BCBA who works exclusively with low functioning autistic kids and young adults. She was like “i love that show but i need to take breaks every once in a while it stresses me out!”

I have a heart of these people... Some of them make me want to turn the show off from the cringe but in general I enjoy listening to them and seeing them learn how to interact with the rest of society.

James gives me anxiety though. And I don't really believe in anxiety

Conner and Tanner on Season 2 are a couple of my favorites. My only issue is it seems like they sometimes couple these people up with people on the opposite side of the cognitive spectrum.

Tanner was ridiculously smart... Obviously has some social issues but they hooked him up with a sweet girl with Down syndrome but it was clear it wouldn't work as she was unable to process things Tanner was saying.

Conner is hilarious. He lacks a lot of confidence. He is a good looking dude from a family of good looking people. He just seems like he is overly shy. He has quirks and is nerdy as all get out. I will say it cracked me up when the speed dating lady called to say he had matched.. She goes "you must be so excited" and he's in the background mouthing "I'm not excited! I'm not excited at all!"... very anxious dude

She is pretty active on social media (particularly Tik Tok). She said she was told they wouldn't be in her area for season 2 so they passed on her. But then they wanted to meet with her later and it was revealed they were in her area but they didn't feel the need to continue her story as she had become such a vocal advocate. They felt like she was doing fine spreading awareness. She also said she did not like how they were "setting up dates". I think she means opposite ends of cognitive spectrum...

Side note Abby's mom is also on tik tok. She has multiple posts a week on how Abby processes situations and how she is learning about social cues and such. It's sometimes sad, heartwarming, and funny.

Abby and David have perfect love.
