I actually like the Alan Rickman storyline. Emma Thompson is kinda hot to me!!
Emma Thompson was definitely an attractive woman. Did he actually give the necklace to the secretary? Did he actually cheat with her? If she had seen the necklace in his pocket then around Mia’s neck that would be one thing, but she just jumps to a conclusion because she opens a gift and it’s a CD.

a little far fetched? That’s what makes it’s funny actually it is so unbelievably stupid, strait up male fantasy of the Dear Penthouse Forum variety

Overall I still love this move. My favorite storyline is probably Liam Neeson and his son. The horny guy coming to America was pretty funny too (although a little far-fetched, but it's a movie!)
Not that far fetched
The movie inspired these lads, though.

William is the guy sitting third from the left in this picture. He’s also the first man to hit on me in 2016, and he’s my first kiss of the new year. As well as my second. And third. And… you get the picture. William is part of a group of British guys who travel thousands of miles across the pond just to get laid. On New Year’s Eve, they went to San Diego on their international pickup tour, and I went with them. San Diego was an atypical place for them, as they’d made a tradition of following a model I’d compare to a plotline from the film Love Actually: go to a bumblefrick college town in America, impress girls with their British accents, and have as much sex as possible.

While great, he learned Portuguese to communicate with her, and she learned English to communicate with him.

I totally agree about her maybe jumping to conclusions a little too fast, but in my opinion that was 100% cheating. He bought that necklace with the intent of giving it to her and hid it from his wife. I can't 100% remember but I think he did wind up giving it to the girl too. Hard to blame him, but I'd bet money my wife would call it cheating.

It’s my favorite Christmas movie
I'm concerned with your well being.
This movie is not good. I feel like some of you are just messing with us saying how good it is every year.

I just watched it again because of this thread and for the first time identified with the Alan Rickman character
It's such an interesting thing to identify with each one of the men in these stories and fundamental ,universal way
The Brits .clever frickers

I always feel sorry for Laura Linney's character. She is never going to have a life until she realizes she can't always be there for her brother. He is mentally unstable and sometimes violent.

Maybe but there’s no way for Emma Thompson to know that. Bit could have been in one of her other presents for all she knew at that point. He could have thought the better of it and returned it. He’s also got lots of plausible deniability… Bob asked me to hold him for him because his wife snoops thru his pockets…The whole office chipped in to buy it for her… I meant it as a bonus but realized it was inappropriate. At the end of the day if he didn’t frick her or even make our, it’s nothing

I always try to watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles for Thanksgiving and Love Actually (and of course Christmas Vacation) during Christmas season

I've been trying to get my wife to watch this damned movie for 18 years and at this point, I think she's being contrary just to keep the shtick going.

And Keira Knightley was 17 in real life when in this movie. Nothing scuzzy about that at all. Its love baby!

Kid should have told the girl how he felt much sooner.

My favorite Christmas movie and a must watch every year. My wife doesn’t share the sentiment.
I like plumpy the most. The chubby girl with the sizable arse. My second favorite is Bill Nighy’s character, Billy Mack
Interesting bit of trivia, Mr. Bean’s character (aka Rowan Atkinson) originally had many more appearances in the film and served as all the characters’ “guardian angel;” however, most of his scenes got cut in post because producers felt it made the movie too supernatural.

Great movie despite the Colin character being the most fricking annoying person on the planet. So loud and obnoxious

It certainly has its moments. I know a family who has made it their family Christmas movie, interesting choice. Personally, I can’t stomach Hugh Grant.
