re: LOST "Everyone Loves Hugo" S6.E12 (Hurley-centric)

I get the gist of what's going on but the details and some of the characters are obviously confusing to me. I enjoy watching the new ones live and then going back and watching how they evolved. Obvouiously I'm in the dark on the Dharma/Time travel stuff as to how it all came about, but I'm aware of the basic outline of events.

This could end up being an epic episode.
I'm thinking we will get a nice reveal tonight.

I'm hoping we see more Jacob in this one since its Hugo centric but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd say there's a good shot of seeing Jacob talking with Hugo tonight. Hugo struggling with what to do next being the episode descriptor seems like a good omen for that.

definitely sounds like we could see that Jacobs plan isnt as "holy" as we thought and Hugo has to decide which side he really wants to be on... I sure hope Stu is ok with that guess

frick Hurley - im ready for some more Desmond tonight, especially once he meets up with MIB
hope this episode continues with all the Arks and not just Hurley (like Recon did)

We'll probably see a few old characters tonight...either as dead people on the island or in the flash-sideways.
Wouldn't it be wild if Dave was a real person in the flash-sideways?
Pretty sure we're going to have to see Libby at some point.
I'm also guessing that Cheech probably never left Hurley's mom in the F-S.

Here's another thing that's been bugging me: wasn't Desmond wearing a wedding ring on the plane during E1 L.A.X? Seeing that he wasn't a married man when he got off of the plane, makes me wonder whether this was on purpose or whether it was a continuity error (if an error I'd say that's a pretty bad one).
Posted on 4/13/10 at 4:42 pm to Decatur
yea not sure how they could explain that one
Posted on 4/13/10 at 4:44 pm to CE Tiger
Oh lawd. If this is from another flash sideways...rabbit holes and shite.
Posted on 4/13/10 at 4:47 pm to Decatur
yeah, supposedly they intentionally had him with the wedding ring on so no mistake.

Here's something thats bugging me, not a continuity error, but something the survivors haven't thought through: Do they really think if they leave the Island that their lives will go back to normal, even if they successfully leave MIB behind? The Oceanic Six will likely be arrested as soon as they get back to the mainland and questioned, if not the rest of the people who return with them. Because the mainland has got to be going apeshit with conspiracy theories that the Oceanic Six again "crashed" on a deserted island. Plus here will be some interesting tidbits which will add to the fun: Many people the Oceanic Six said were dead are alive, well over half of their flight passengers were killed despite the fact they were able to fly the plane back properly, Hurley bought a large number of plane tickets to keep others off the flight, obviously "Jeremy Bentham" is going to be analyzed as well, and pretty much anyone they came into contact with in the past week will be interviewed and questioned.
There's no way anyone will believe them if they tell the truth except for crazy conspiracy buffs and people who have previously heard of the Island. I don't think they have much of a choice but to stay on the Island or go back into hiding and change their appearances greatly, since it would certainly go down as one of the greatest conspiracy theories ever and all of them would be almost instantly recognizable to most of the world.

If they got arrested, what would they be charged with? They got another plane and it crashed again. What evidence is there of this faux crime?
It sounds like a problem I would deal with when I got off the Island. The alternative is to stay on the Island, risk death (as 90% of the inhabitants have met that fate), or at best spend the rest of their lives on an f'ed up Island with moderate amenities.
Kate has/had the best argument for staying on the Island and even she got off free when last time, when jail was imminent.

Where did they say this?
If it was intentional, then that really opens up another can of worms. Could it be a time traveling Desmond as a result of the EM event we are bound to see in an upcoming episode? (my guess, not a spoiler)

The fact that the operating plane is still running, but only 8 passengers from the original flight survived, all of which were in first class. It would be a tricky case to be sure, but I still say they could arrest them for being suspects in mass murder, especially when one of the suspects buys out mass quantities of plane tickets to make sure no one else got on board. The only death they wouldn't have a case against is the co-pilot.

Not sure what case they are going to build. They have no witnesses. No evidence. No proof that the other passengers even died. They wouldn't have take the stand. How would the prosecution propose this murder took place?

Besides the fact that this entire thought process is kinda silly, what jurisdiction do you think the U.S. government has on this island that jumps in time and that nobody knows where it is or how to get there?
But I agree with Matt that Kate is absolutely the only one who should remotely be worried and even she was pardoned or whatever. I'm sure they'll all be questioned, but the U.S. government has neither a crime to charge or the jurisdiction with which to charge it imho.

dont disregard the fact that he basically disappeard off the plane - (Jack asked Rose where he went)- and then ovbviously landed at LAX. If Des is shifting in and out, and life paths are changing, I would take it (if the ring was intentional) that something is literally changing his past and present at a moments' notice.
