Honestly, I have no idea what, if anything, Jack is supposed to lift up (but I don't think it's the island FWIW). It's just an odd dialog that happened between Desmond and Jack. If you go back and watch all the Desmond episodes it makes you start connecting things that may or may not be connectable. I could be totally wrong (and probably am wrong on this one), but it was a strange exchange. They are talking about whether miracle exist and in response to Jack saying he doesn't believe in miracles, Desmond tells him to "lift it up." He knows he's a doctor. Why would he have to give him that advice. Hell, all people know to do that to a sprain.
I'm just wondering out loud if some time travel/"I know you from somewhere"/"see you in a another life brotha" stuff was already happening way back at the beginning of Season 2.
Is it probable? Nope. Is it possible? Sure.

If what MIB said was true about Jacob stealing his body, then a young MIB would actually look like Jacob.

It's the same kid. Someone checked the casting on IMDB. The difference in perceived haircolor has more to do with the shadow of the shot than the writers trying to trick us.

I still think the bomb caused the split, but only happened in the original time line. However the alt time line is the result of "WHAT IF 815 never crashed". i.e. no plane crash, no losties trying to blow up the island. Chang still has his hand because in the alt timeline, b/c he never met the losties. I think Chang would have remembered Hurley from this Korean War

You're wrong. Desmond was on the island in the original time line not on the plane.
If it was just that the plane had not crashed, there would be no prior differences leading up to that point.
