I would be in the theater opening night if they made the whole movie.

Every remaining member of the Fellowship other than the hobbits being shirtless and jacked has me rolling.

They did Theoden wrong. Every other hero was shirtless and yoked. They had him slouching on his throne with a little gut.

don't care.

I watch for entertainment, not to see a specific actor.
It really wouldn't be much different than animated movies

Everyone bitching about Tolkien’s vision is saying this is awesome…

He would hate that 1980 version

So fricking what? We already have Tolkiens version on paper. If some enterprising Chad wants to make a big hair synth music dungeons and dragons version of it, hell yeah.

Spot on. Save for muscle bound elves and wizards, everything looks damn good.

But...

The Two Towers is never explicitly spelled out.

Is it Isengard and Barad-dur?

Barad-dur and Ecthelion?

Ecthelion and Minus Morgul?

Ecthilion and Isengard?

I think the only 80's movie they've seen is Conan the Barbarian.

Yeah the film would likely be much more like this... Because John Borman really wanted to make LOTR, but had to pivot to Excalibur once it was clear they couldn't make the Tolkien works properly with early 1980s effects.
