It’s definitely justified for you to feel that way.

Wall Street analyst Barton Crockett says Solo will lose more than $50 million. Industry financing sources, however, say that figure could come in at $80 million or higher, although no one knows the exact terms of Disney's deals for home entertainment and television, among other ancillary revenues. Solo, directed by Ron Howard, isn't likely to gross much more than $400 million globally against a budget of at least $250 million and a major multimillion-dollar marketing spend.

That article is from 9 days ago too, the movie will be lucky to cross $380 mill globally now, and w/ marketing costs, I’ve seen total costs as high as $400 million. Studios take is roughly 40% of total box office, that’s a $200+ million dollar loss on top of TLJ underperforming expectations by hundreds of millions. This will really start to sting if Disney loses the Fox battle to Comcast.

I couldn't wait to see episode 7. And it was pretty good, if just rehashed stuff. The ending was amazing seeing Luke for the 1st time in 30 years. Then episode 8 just ruined everything about Luke. I'll torrent them and watch them later.

Part of it is because I'm not 8 years old anymore watching star wars in the 80's. Part is that the new films just suck.

That's why I still don't understand JJ Abrams white knighting for Rian Johnson. Abrams made a solid movie with an excellent cliffhanger ending (literally) that had the fans on the edge of their seats and eagerly awaiting episode 8. Then Rian Johnson basically threw that opportunity in the garbage with Luke tossing the lightsaber over his shoulder and walking away.

Imagine if Lucas would have done something like that with ROTJ.

[Luke surrenders himself to Darth Vader.]
Vader: The Emperor has been expecting you.
Luke: I know, father.
Vader: Father?? Oh that! No, I'm not your father, I was just saying that to rile you up.

Whats sad is Solo is probably closest to what invested fans wanted to see from new movies in general. Deep tie ins to expanded universe and canon subject matter. And whats being lost is they fixed this movie mid stream to give fans what they wanted. They crapped the bed on TLJ but it wasnt quite as terrible as the Star Wars Christmas special. People need to get over it. I am looking forward to seeing where 9 is going because a I dont have a clue.

TLJ was a shitty movie.

People including Disney tell me it was only shitty because I’m sexist and racist.

As a consumer I make the decision to not see their next movie in theatres because A. The last movie was shitty and B. It’s bad customer service to tell people they Didn’t like the product because I’m sexist and racist.

Seems real simple

It’s a shame if this happens bc of fanboys on message boards complain so much. It’s just a movie

Well, don’t insult your fan base and call them sexists and racists.

It is a shame that Disney wasn’t able to avoid doing that.

Yeah, I’m going to mourn the fact that we’re not getting “Watto: A Star Wars Story”

No one asked for a Han Solo movie.

High bar there. Going to compare it to Battlefield Earth as well?

Infinity War is how you do this correctly. I don’t have a clue where they’re going with that movie, but I’m intrigued. I now don’t give a single frick what happens in Episode IX. That’s the most damning thing you can say about TLJ.

You know you’re not forced to watch any of these movies

TFA was really not that compelling of a movie - the revisionist history regarding that movie after TLJ came out has been funny to watch. People are propping it up i guess to make TLJ seem even worse - which isn't really necessary.

I know, hence why I’m not seeing Solo so Kathleen Kennedy will be fired to change the current trajectory of this franchise.

It wasn’t, but it created a lot of potential. That was its saving grace. Overall, it was simply a rehashing of ANH.

The good that it offered was Rey. She had such potential for growth as a character, emphasis on “had”.

It looking better is what happens when a shitty movie is created after it. It looks so much better in contrast.

When i first saw it, i thought it was great, and i went see it 3 times in the theaters. After seeing the TLJ, when i try to rewatch TFA, i cannot enjoy it and find problems with it all over the place, but they are mostly b/c of the continuity with TLJ.
TFA was a more than competent movie. Sure it had flaws, but it told a good story, had some cool scenes, and left us wanting more.

TLJ was so terrible that it ruined TFA for me, a movie that i once enjoyed.

That is truly one of the worst aspects of TLJ.

All of the mystery of TFA was ruined. All of the interesting plot points were destroyed or disregarded.

I just disagree - it had some cools scenes but a couple of the kylo and rey scenes are all i found actually compelling. For me it was really just a poorly done re-hash of ANH. Rogue One was head and shoulders better for my money.

The movie was put together fine, just a lot of bullshite and nothing that sticks out to me as compelling (sorry i keep using the same word) much beyond Kylo on the catwalk at the end.

It sets up a lot of "potential" moving forward - but just seemed like a ton of window dressing and no substance which didn't really do a whole lot, at least IMO.

I thought Rey’s intro was pretty masterfully done.
