Lots a crazy stuff in here. Good thread. If you can stay home and not go see Solo you are not a star wars fan. Freaking kessel run.

Agreed. It's no coincidence that the loudest of them are all regulars from Political Talk.

Wrong.
This isn't an argument. My 4 year old can simply say "no". Again, you go do a site specific google search for solo on TD and see the results. Anyone can. It wasn't until after TLJ that Solo became much more unwanted.

Define your definition of "made" so we can stop going in a circle.

Disney is going to lose a lot of money on this film. Net loss. And I'm not talking about "Hollywood accounting" either. And even if the production budget hadn't skyrocketed.

50-80 million dollar loss
quote:

Wall Street analyst Barton Crockett says Solo will lose more than $50 million. Industry financing sources, however, say that figure could come in at $80 million or higher, although no one knows the exact terms of Disney's deals for home entertainment and television, among other ancillary revenues. Solo, directed by Ron Howard, isn't likely to gross much more than $400 million globally against a budget of at least $250 million and a major multimillion-dollar marketing spend.

No it isn't.

I think I'd be fired. And rightfully so. Kennedy inexplicably hasn't been fired.

Comparing Solo to TLJ and Rogue one isn't apples to apples. Rogue One is the closest thing we have, and that's not even a good comparison. It was a 'new' story and a different type of film, with better marketing, and a better release date.

I had no clue at all what Rogue One was about. The marketing was terrible for it. When finally figuring out what this movie was going to be about, most people's first thought, and mine, was "many bothans died to get this information" which was incorrect. They literally had to come out and say and people made videos before this movie came out to tell idiots like myself that line has nothign to do with this movie.

And the release date excuse is just retarded. Avengers and Deadpool didn't seem to have a problem making money with kids in school. Solo didnt' even have another movie competing with it for 3 weeks, unless you want to count the 2 week old Deadpool movie.

You still think Disney only makes money from ticket sales.

I don't even know what this means.

I'm a huge fan of the restaurant Crabby Jack's. Have been for most of my life. If they severed me a plate of human shite and berated me for not eating all of it, I would never go back. Doesn't matter how big of a fan I was or what the next dish they promised me was.

SW makes far more money from its side industries, such as toys.

The toy aspect floundered after TLJ with store orders down about 47% from previous years.

Solo could reinvigorate that, but it fell sharply after the high of TFA. That movie had a strong toy industry.

RO and TLJ? Not much.

Solo could, with the Millennium Falcon, but time will tell.

You said they’ve already made money on this movie. That’s simply not true. What other revenue are you counting that they’ve already made?

Which was to be expected. We saw something similar with The Phantom Menace.
