The majority of Seals are not hot heads like most movies want you to believe. They are extremely smart , cunning and level headed. There's a good chance you wouldn't even know you were talking to one if you didn't know him or see his "budweiser" pin.

Dude, you've never met a SEAL?!?! I meet like three of them everytime I go to the bar. Apparently all SEALs are alcoholics though cause I've never actually met one anywhere else.

So b/c you meet a few at a bar they are all alcoholics, that's a great observation, lol, you're so full of shite. My BIL is a team guy and they are not as you describe. In fact I've been to his base multiple times and met many team guys and would have never known otherwise if not for the obvious surroundings. Many are young and full of life and many are mature family men and very laid back. Some of those guys are just like you and I except they have an internal switch that is called bad arse and is always on standby.
Seals are bar none some of the most composed bad asses that walk this earth.
fricking go America!

Your sarcasm meter is broken. I am sure he was alluding to posers claiming to be be SEALs.
Edit: I worked with SEAL teams twice while deployed to the Persian Gulf. They were quiet professionals.

Gotcha, I'm sure I missed it. I was laughing when I read that and thought you've got to be kidding. Thanks!

Just finished the movie. That was the most intense thing I've ever seen. It's the first time I can recall watching a movie in my house and not once reaching for my phone.

Chief Fire Controlman Jacques Fontan, who died in the helo that was hit by the RPG, was from New Orleans.

I really did enjoy the movie, and the seal is badass. I just didn't know how much Hollywood changed the actual events

It was cool to see the real Marcus in a small scene.

He is also on Chinook as QRF if im not mistaken. Appears more often than you think when you go back and watch it again.

The ending where they rescue him was not very accurate. I don't know why they changed it but it was pretty far off. Possibly for time constraints or maybe to make the US look like badasses going in to save their buddy.
He actually went through quite a bit more hell than they portrayed.
It was an amazing movie and I almost choked up when the helicopter went down with all those SEALs, Rangers, and Night Stalkers aboard...

And also with the soldier threatening to shoot the pilot when he couldn't land the Chinook. Pretty spot on.

I just finished it. Wow.
I often forget how young our warriors are. Now I'm all depressed/angry.

Watched it last night. Thought it was awesome. Just a really, really good movie. It was pretty intense for a while.
And I loved all the pics at the end, including the one with Marcus and the Afghani dude who saved him...that was very cool.
Was weird seeing the dude from The Girl Next Door (Emile Hirsch) as a SEAL.
And Ben Foster is awesome. Love that dude.
The only thing that was kinda weird was how they kept jumping off of cliffs and tumbling down the mountain. I'm sure some liberties were taken with that, but can anyone who is familiar with the details go into that a little more? I mean that shite should've killed them every time...the human body isn't built for shite like that. Not even SEAL bodies.
