Why didn't he find a safe haven to wait out the obvious mad queen going mad? He could be Jon's hand after Tyrion betrayed Jon and Varys?

Would still love to know the point of Tyrion selling him out.

I am pretty sure the first letter was sent out (to where who knows?) but it was a callback to when Ned sent the letters out about Joffrey not being a legitimate King and that at the time it was Stannis who had the legit claim. Ned died shortly after but not because of the letter he sent out.

When Varys explained to Tyrion that it was no longer a secret, then Tyrion knew that:

Varys would act on it.
Mother of Dragons would blame Tyrion.

Tyrion is the smartest person in Westeros, but he apparently couldn't see Dany going insane? Of all of his political maneuverings over the course of the show, his plan is so simply run and tell Dany? There was no effort made to flush out any moral ambiguity on his part of the decision, it just happened.

If you felt that someone you’ve failed multiple times was starting to go crazy, and said person had a dragon, wouldn’t you not waste time in trying to get in her good graces?

Tyrion backed Dany.

You can’t let a guy take out your liege lord.

Honestly, he backed the wrong horse but it’s funny that we’re both calling Tyrion dumb for not seeing this coming and saying they didn’t developed the Mad Queen angle well enough.

No ones talking about the very beginning when the Spider was talking to his Little Bird. I think he was trying to poison Dany, but she wouldn’t eat so he was unsuccessful. This leads to his desperation and to him directly acting treasonous right in front of Jon and Tyrion. He knew all was lost

I like the idea of him trying to poison her. With that said, maybe a better ending would've been for him to get caught and he and the ltlle girl executed together.

This could've really driven home how dark danarys had become and at the same time, really couldn't have been argued against.

Exactly. And Tyrion was clearly VERY torn up inside about having to be loyal to Dany, knowing that he got his best friend executed, and the city being potentially torched. He held out hope that she'd reel it in if the bells were rung, even though he knew that there was at least a decent chance that she would burn the city anyway.

I am extremely interested in seeing how Tyrion's story ends.

Also, I feel kind of stupid for not picking up on the little bird trying to poison Dany, but yeah, seems pretty obvious now.

He was spreading the information.

More than one letter went out I imagine. We've had two weeks since rhaegel went into the the sea.

When you get caught committing treason, you have to pay the price. The traitor's likability is immaterial.

Yeah was thinking the same. I would imagine he reached out to the Vale, Highgarden, Dorne, Storm's End, Pyke.

I also think he was being much more obvious because he didn’t feel like he had enough time.

He was desperately trying to get this coup done before Dany fricked KL

I imagine more lords of Tarly stature.

Highgarden is gone.

Vale is already under Sansa's sway.

Storm's End - occupied in show? I can't remember.

Pyke - Yara will be hard to sway from Dany.

Dorne is the big question.

Mostly unbled. But they took out anyone who would have personal reason to join Dany over Jon. Or they could just say frick all y'all and peace to being 6 kingdoms again. It's not like Drogon is even a one in a million meraxes shot to kill right now.

His trying to kill her would have been a great way for his character to go.

Truly giving his life for the realm.

Or hell, even succeeding and killing Dany, then being beheaded by Jon would have been awesome.

Then you can spare King's Landing.

He already made his play by talking with Jon, and his discussion with Tyrion.

He can send his notes from somewhere else.

It's not the worst part of this series, but for the lord of whispers, that's a wimpy way to go.

He also couldn’t see what Sansa was doing by telling him.

Tyrion was a flop as Dany’s hand.

I didn't pick up ok this,

How did you not pick up on it? He hinted at it last episode, the girl was clearly trying to poison someone, and one of the next scenes shows Dany in a clearly malnourished state.
