Would still love to know the point of Tyrion selling him out.
He was still holding out hope that she wasn't going to torch King's Landing and would be a good ruler. He chose poorly.

Of all the potential political maneuverings, he went with "go directly to Dany and tell on him"? Just seemed cheap.

Trying to appeal to her merciful better angels side. He never realized she never came back from torching the Tarlys.

enjoyed tonight’s episode but Varys, Tyrion, and Jon making dumb decision after decision is hard to swallow.
Agreed. All of the sudden,
Dany kills innocents, Tyrion is an idiot, Varys is short sided and Jon can’t see the big picture.

I think that Tyrion just kind of ran out of options. He had to stay behind the horse that he picked, for better or for worse.
I think Varys got too desperate, saw what was about to happen, and threw up a hail mary.
Jon is just dumb.

Doesn’t sound like something Tyrion would do. Pretty disappointing.

Oh, I get Tyrion telling. No choice at that point.
Dany has been making statements about possibly removing him since middle of Season 7, for bad strategy. He's been able to stay ahead of that, but thin ice indeed.
At that exact moment, he is in the room with Dany, and she's clearly unhinged, but still politically in command. She flat out tells him she's been betrayed, it isn't a question. You know the Unsullied are around, maybe even in the shadows of that room. So Tyrion now faces a moment where he lives or dies, right then. Lying isn't going to cut it, because she obviously knows something, and he also does too.
She says "Jon Snow", and Tyrion has to pick. Jon, or Varys. Or himself.
Jon is the one chance they have of reigning her in, and if he'd just bed that gal things might not end in fire tomorrow. And Jon is loyal to her, so maybe he would.
Varys is dead, today or in a week. Tyrion knows she won't listen to him, so saving the future doesn't equal saving Varys.
Similarly, if he flat lies about it all, he knows he's probably also dead then and there.
Tyrion still has plans to make (Jaime, etc), so at that moment, he chooses to live, and hope things work out.

Both Tyrion and Jaime know Bronn was hired by cersei to kill them and they still tried to save her. What a pair of fricking jabronis

Agreed- They were the reason she burned KL to the ground.
I personally think she should have killed Tyrion right after she killed Varys. How many times she said one more mistake.
Dany had to have known he would have tried to free Jaime. I dont blame her for not trusting a Lannister who has failed her in regards to the bell ringing.
John is a dumbass. He tells her he loves and she is the Queen 2 epsiodes in a row and denies her the cock twice. He could have saved KL and he knew Dany was upset when Varys met him on the shores
