I always hoped Meyers would make a Sprokets movie.

It’d be hilarious.

Meyers was/is extremely talented.Too bad he became so full of himself that many in Hollywood don't want to work with em.

It's not easy to be both bizarre and hilarious and Sprockets was both. One of my favorite skits

When I was in high school in the late 90s it was football Friday night, CFB all day Saturday, then Will Ferrell Molly Shannon era SNL at 11:30. I miss those days

There was a movie but Meyers backed out due to scheduling conflicts and other issues.Several lawsuits followed.

I think everybody goes through a phase in the early teen years when they are too old for kid stuff but too young to go out and have adult fun. That's the magic window when SNL resonates and people will always have a bond with that era, the cast and the skits written. Then you leave the show to do normal young adult stuff and when you settle down and revisit it everything suddenly sucks. That seems to be the cycle.

I think you are 100% right. Certainly it is for me, which is why the late 80's/early-mid 90's remains my favorite. Now, if you ask people a bit older than me I'm sure they'd say everything post 1979 was awful. However, when I watch the 75-79 shows I find them to have some good skits...but by no means as great as those older than me remember them to be.

But a new generation is obviously watching enthusiastically.

This makes me so sad. I don't think I'm too old or too much of a prude to not laugh at modern humor. But with so many things "off topic" to joke about, there is not much left for humor. A big part of comedy is being offensive, but people not taking it personally because they know it is just a joke. This new generation doesn't have that ability to differentiate.

The first 5 were in 1989, the next 3 were in 1990 with one airing in 1991, 2 in 1992, 2 in 1993 and 1 in 1997. So it bridged the gap between the two decades (5 in the 80s and 7 in the 90s).

Well, if we’re talking 80’s let’s not leave out one of the funniest SNL skits ever.

Martin Short, Harry Shearer, and Christopher Guest.

Can't talk best SNL skits of the 80s without mentioning Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood and The Sinatra Group.

Arnold's cousins, Hans and Franz, were from the 80's.

Making fun of girlie men

At that time, my hair was like the little guys, with a mullet added to it. Yes, I looked exactly how you'd expect a kid from Farmerville, LA, who graduated from college, and moved to Dallas in 1984, to look.

My best friend and I went to a Halloween party in Dallas dressed as them. Two other guys came as them too. We embarrassed them in a pose down on the dance floor. The key to our winning it was our wrapping tennis balls onto our biceps with Ace bandages.
When we flexed our biceps the tennis balls popped up.

That little animated piece is a rendering of the penis car that was inside the For Ladies Only Steppenwolf album.

The cover was a nice psychedelic design that looked great under a black light..
