Why don’t Todd and Margo have any curtains or blinds in their living room where they clearly are fricking (after showering anyway)?

Clearly they are exhibitionists

Perhaps one of the most overrated movies on this board.

Horrible as is LV Vacation.

Snow disk breaks the sound barrier. Clark would have Sonny Bonoed.

Eddie's RV made a lot of noise while it was running (you can clearly hear it when he leaves to go kidnap the boss) yet no one heard him drive up while they were looking at the lights in the front yard.

He said he coasted in fumes so maybe he had just run out of gas when he got close to Clark’s house.

The thing that just hit me this year was that Todd and Margo sleep in the loft instead of an actual bedroom. They live alone so there are no bedrooms in the house?

the thing that always bothers us is why the family all arrive so damned early. I think they get there on the 15th or thereabouts.

The part that bothers me is the “stuck in the attic scene”

Almost immediately he breaks through onto russ’ bunk bed.

Why did he not just simply crawl out?

Instead he sits up there for hours freezing because he’s “stuck”

I used to think that, too. But I think what happens is he finds those old home videos and stays up in the attic willingly to watch them.

Looks like they renovated a nice suburban chicago house into a weird yuppie open loft concept

They clearly employ some hyperbolic humor at times. Nothing wrong with that!

Cousin Eddie has a huge bulge in the shopping scene. “He was a huge, beastly, bulging man.”

The distance and angle of that sewage treatment plant are simply impossible to make that tower light appear to look like a “Christmas star” that close to the moon. There’s no way they built an upper-middle class residential subdivision that close to the plant and no way the tower would be tall enough to be that high in the sky from that far away.

Uncle Louis is full of shite. You think that old man knows the light on the sewage treatment plant?

No way Todd and Margo live in the burbs. Those two scream city folk

They may have moved out there to have their "exactly" 2 kids. Someplace away from the Chicago crime.

I was a 12 year old suburban Chicago kid at the time the movie came out, so my memory may be a little hazy. But I don't think the North Side and downtown areas of Chicago were regentrified yet like they are today, so there wouldn't have been too much of a haven there even for yuppies.

Where did they go to cut down the tree? They were in legit mountains. There is nothing like that near Chicago.

This question, along with most others can be answered with the following dialogue.

Rusty: Don't you think you are overdoing it a bit dad?
Clark: When was the last time I overdid anything?
