Where did they go to cut down the tree? They were in legit mountains. There is nothing like that near Chicago.

The better question is, how did Clark uproot the damn thing(he didn't cut it).

The distance and angle of that sewage treatment plant are simply impossible to make that tower light appear to look like a “Christmas star” that close to the moon.

There’s no way they built an upper-middle class residential subdivision that close to the plant and no way the tower would be tall enough to be that high in the sky from that far away.

No way Todd and Margo live in the burbs. Those two scream city folk.

B/c in the 80s Christmas wasn't a 2 month long holiday. You put up the lights for a week or two max.

Clark worked up until he had no other choice but to stay home and get it all done. This is how you get to the level he is, making probably $500k per year perfecting his designs and compound formulations for food additives. His eye was focused with razor-sharp precision on the goal of getting his family that pool.

ETA: This is what makes the bonus getting pulled such a travesty. The man sacrificed so much.

He always wanted to hang Christmas lights yet those lights were used and in a knot. I guess he could've bought them at a garage sale.

Amen to this. I would have grabbed a half gallon or three of bourbon and stayed in the attic with the old video tapes. That and a good blanket

Also, how did he get it out of the ground? That car wasn't making it to the tree and didn't have enough power to pull it out of the frozen ground.

He had to dig it up with a shovel. This was addressed in a deleted scene.

How did the cat not die being wrapped up in a small box for hours?

Funniest part of the movie for me btw. When that box starts shaking

Eddie's RV made a lot of noise while it was running (you can clearly hear it when he leaves to go kidnap the boss) yet no one heard him drive up while they were looking at the lights in the front yard.

The part that bothers me is the “stuck in the attic scene”

Almost immediately he breaks through onto russ’ bunk bed.

Why did he not just simply crawl out?

Instead he sits up there for hours freezing because he’s “stuck”

My question is why didn’t his buddy from the office call him when he received his jelly of the month club gift instead of the bonus.
He said “company messenger dropped something off at the house” several days before Clark got his
