Fatherhood is a major theme of the First season. Between Mr Wheeler, Matthew Modine as Papa and Eleven's relationship with her, Hopper's need for redemption from his own parental failings, Winona Ryder's ex being useless, and the fact that Dustin is clearly raised by an ineffective single mom. It's all throughout.

This. Her seeing their daughter asleep on them is what stopper her. I'm happily married, but in a life of work travel have had the "opportunity." i never went as far as to really entertain it like getting ready and about to walk out the door, but she obviously came to her senses when she saw that.

Yeah she saw what she'd throw away if she did it, and she wasn't willing to do that.

He was probably pretty fun when they were younger. Just b/c he turned into a bit of a schlub doesn't mean he was always a sad sack of potatoes.

I wouldn't say a lot, but his character really didn't make me bat an eye. I definitely saw it growing up in the 80's. Hell, even my own dad was a little like him.

shite, I had a friend whose parents didn't even sleep in the same room. I never saw his dad at his baseball games or anything else like that.

Yeah, I had a friend that I always assumed his dad had died or his parents were divorced or something, but then he showed up at our high school graduation. Was friends with the kid since middle school and had never see his dad until that night. Friend had never mentioned him.

She would have been flayed if it weren’t for the fact that Billy was actually a good guy deep down.
