Can’t imagine a 2 hour film doing Zelda any justice

Would have to be at minimum a trilogy and would definitely be better suited for tv

Curious which game they will be using for inspiration or if they will take aspects from different games and throw them together as Easter eggs

What’re the odds of link and Zelda both being white? 30%?

Are we forgetting that Chris Pratt did a voice over as an Italian plumber?

Japanese pop culture loves big Western movie stars. They will probably cast pretty accurately considering its Nintendo as the direct producer. That means they are likely funding much of the film, too, which means they call the shots.

This will probably be about as IP accurate as it gets.

Nobody would be mad if they cast Japanese people.

They would be mad if we have a very clear description or depiction of a character that they have seen in 40 years of games be something completely different.

See WoT. The original story had black people, gay people, and interracial marriages.

People from certain areas all had a certain look. Then the main cast who should all be a certain description (country white bumpkins) were black, Indian, and half black. They complete butchered the characterization of Mat and Perrin. Not just in looks but their personalities as well. And to boot, all the actors suck except Rosamond Pike and Zoe Robbins.

Nobody cares that a Hispanic Pedro Pascal is cast as a white Joel in last of us because he was a brooding dark complected dude with a beard. Pascal fits that to a T AND is a good actor. Nobody bitched about that casting.

Movie seems like it would be extremely stripped down or overly bulky.

a tv series would be better. I'd even be ok if they did an animated tv series as long as it didnt look cheap, and pander to kids.

Those of you that like to sky scream about this before anything is even known about projects are quite the conundrum.

So if I’m following, any media featuring minorities, women, LGBTQ folks, and now children I guess, automatically = bad. So what you’re wanting instead is….all media to feature exclusively white men? Regardless of source material I suppose since Legend of Zelda is Japanese.

It’s just a little funny to me y’all are so ate up with any non-white male appearing, yet somehow have an issue with LGBTQ people. If anything, I’d think you’d be the most understanding. Maybe it’s time you have your sexual preferences checked. Seems like white meat is all that’s on your menu.

Do you want to actually have this conversation or not? I'd love to dig into the breadth of this issue from historical perspectives, to gender/races switches and whether they are or not valid, the Mary Sue issue, etc.

Or do you want to do this:

quote:

So if I’m following, any media featuring minorities, women, LGBTQ folks, and now children I guess, automatically = bad.

Which isn't really an argument because that's not the point at all.

Additionally:

Regardless of source material I suppose since Legend of Zelda is Japanese.

Link isn't Japanese, just an FYI.

Isn't the writer the same guy who wrote Rise of Skywalker? If so, that's not promising at all.

Miyamoto will be heavily involved, and Zelda is his baby. If he doesn't like the script he'll rip it up and make them redo it.

My son will go full bananas when I show him this. I always thought this would be a great trilogy, or Netflix series. There are enough amazing aspects to pull from damn near all the games to make a fun movie series.

How is Link supposed to catch 20 cuckoos in a 90 minute movie?

The movie better stick to the source material

If we meet Kaepora Gaebora more commonly known as “not that fricking owl again”

and he doesn’t go on at least a 5 minute screen time rant that ends with “would you like to hear what I just said again”? I’m walking out of the theater

Hollywood is about to go on a video game live-action run now that the comic book over-saturation phase is fading out.

That’s fine. Marvel made 30 solid films over 10 years before their wheel broke

Nintendo
Metroid
Mega Man
Star Fox
F Zero
Zelda
Pokémon
Donkey Kong

PlayStation
God of War
Metal Gear
Resident Evil reboot

Most of these could make a killing

Then by the time they get around to something like Minecraft or Fortnite the Genre will die out
