Nintendo has announced a live-action film based on The Legend of Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto announced.

The gaming legend and creator of the Zelda franchise took to Nintendo’s official X/Twitter account to write, “This is Miyamoto. I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films.”

He continued, “I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.”

The movie will be directed by Wes Ball, who helmed the “Maze Runner” trilogy and the upcoming “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” and produced by Miyamoto, whose involvement in 2023’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” helped make it a groundbreaking box office success.

I think it would be better as a tv-series. But if they're going the live-action movie route, I hope it's a Lord of the Rings style trilogy. Regardless they can take my money.

What’re the odds of link and Zelda both being white? 30%?

To answer the question seriously depends on what age they’re casting them at. Could be anywhere from actors in their early 20’s to late 30’s

Nintendo is in charge, so I think it'll be much higher than that. They don't appear to care about all this culture war nonsense

100% It’s Nintendo. Japan doesn’t give a crap about that stuff, they want accuracy to their IP.

With Nintendo calling the shots? 100%.

ETA: I take it back. Probably 50%. It's possible the leads will be Japanese, which would make sense given the company that created the game.

Maybe Thomas Brodie sangster gets a shout if the Artful Dodger show he’s doing is well received. Maybe a bit too old now.

Anya Taylor-Joy or Chloe Grace Moretz for Zelda.

I don't know who for Link. Maybe Alexander Ludwig? With Wes Ball directing, maybe he brings in one of his Maze Runner guys.

Timothy Chalamet has the facial structure and physical stature of Link.

I just don't know if I want to see him as the lead in another franchise.

Pre-vis for Wes Ball’s cancelled ‘MOUSE GUARD’ movie could hint to how he may approach his live-action ‘LEGEND OF ZELDA’ movie.

The Maze Runner movies were pretty forgettable YA fodder, but they looked amazing for their relatively smaller budgets. Wes Ball is a great visual director.

They'll have a prominent BIPOC/LGBTQ supporting actress and/or co-lead.

Think Moses Ingram in Kenobi. You thought the show would be about Obi-Wan but it was also about Moses Ingram and the little girl to make sure it was good and slathered with feminism.
