I'm betting money that CBS is talking to Conan's agent as we speak. I expect Colbert to unemployed by the end of the year.

People have been giving me down votes for this previously, but it's going to take about a year in order for Colbert to figure out what the right balance is. The only person who got it right from the start was Letterman, and that's it. Kimmel, Conan, and Ferguson all bombed their first year. Colbert's character just isn't going to work for this, but I think he still wants to play into his comfort zone with the Colbert character. Give Colbert a year (which they didn't give Conan) and he'll be much better.

Yeah, a lot of typical viewers invest too much into his political character and underestimate how brilliant he is off the stage. He will figure it out, just over time.

The camera angles are really bad. I'm really not paying attention anymore.

Give him time. It's hard for someone of Colbert's brilliance to dumb it down for some bonehead mass audience.

All of you are wrong. This is fantastic. He is mocking everything -

Advertising with the amulet

Media's obsession with Trump with the Oreos

Celebrity worship over nothing with Clooney

The band is mocking all of the Late Night bands

Even his little thing with Fallon mocked the idea of competition between the two.

He has taken a whole different approach with the first show and is going for satire.

Why is no one else seeing this?

Fallon? No, he fricking blew. I'd say he started off worse than Colbert was. He seemed nervous and awkward and couldn't interview worth a shite. At least Colbert is confident and can interview people.

And if you're referring to Kimmel, he'd be the first to tell you that his first few years fricking blew. He didn't know what the frick he was doing and his shows were mostly bombs. The recurring Matt Damon joke is a result of Jimmy thinking he was about to be fired and hosted the worst show of all time with a juggler being his guest and his audience half filled. He ended the show saying "apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time", and that just killed his staff and what little audience he had. He figured it out eventually, but only Dave got it right from the start.

I love TRUMP jokes but those weren't funny

The best TRUMP joke I heard was Bill Maher showing the Ramos video clip and saying "wow... I guess he really can get rid of Mexicans"

I'll take that bet.

He may never quite appeal to the cops at the B-Quick but he will adjust to get more mass appeal, for sure. Fallon and Colbert as late night talk show hosts will be a staple for many years to come.
