This is one of my favorite genres. A lot of good movies mentioned in this thread, but I'd also recommend:
1. Timecrimes
2. +1
3. Predestination
4. Time Lapse
5. Mine Games
ETA: I have not watched Lake Artifact, because it looked just too low budget for me
ETA 2: Watched Lake Artifact last night and...they made a good attempt, but I didn't love it. I thought inserting all the documentary interviews hurt the flow of the movie.
Adding the following movies to my recommendations above:
1. I Origins
2. Another Earth
3. Mr. Nobody
4. Comet

It is low budget, but that comes with the territory on Tubi most of the time I had it on in the background. I'll rewatch it, some of the loops and time passage stuff confused me, as I like, but I want to make sure it make sense.
Thanks for the lists both of yall.

I liked coherence as well. Especially for what type of production went into it. Proves you can make interesting films without a super high budget or 100s of crew running around

As Above,So Below is another movie in this type of genre. I enjoyed it. Will check out Lake Artifact.

As Above, So Below is great. Although it is more mainstream than most mentioned in this thread.
Cube is fricking excellent. I love that movie. I finally got around to watching some of the sequels, and they were pretty stupid (although enjoyable). But the original Cube is really great.
ETA:
Yeha, not so much. It definitely was not "easier to follow" IMO. That's a weird, weird movie. I didn't hate it, but it also didn't make much sense to me either.

Upstream Color - Primer’s director’s second film - larger budget - a little easier to follow but trippy as well.

Doesn't have to be great or mind blowing to be interesting. So much of what Hollywood is pumping out lately is pure trash. I'll take a off beat, mildly interesting low budget film over some of the shill bait that passes for 'great works' of film.

Funny enough, I watched Coherence and then about 6 months later stumbled upon Lake Artifact. About 30 minutes in I was like, “hey this seems a lot like that Coherence movie…” - glad you brought both up. Very weird, but most time jumping movies are for me. Good to watch at home alone on a random weekend.
A somewhat similar take is Blumhouse’s Seven in Heaven. Sounds lame, but it has Gary Cole in it and I thought it was cool for a one off watch.

Seven in Heaven is def a guilty pleasure . Yeah I got major Coherence vibes, but it seemed they added in some nuance and extra "presumed effects" of a time loop/realm. May have bit off more than they could chew but I have my theory, specifically because of the documentary style parts. I thought the idea was interesting.

So I watched Coherence and really enjoyed it. Actually went back and watched it again (which I rarely do) and picked up on some subtle things in the background that I hadn't noticed before. Great movie.
Follwed it up with Resolution and The Endless. Maybe not my favorites, but thought the concept was interesting.
Tried Triangle, and IMO it was perhaps the best of the bunch so far. Really, really tight script and without giving anything away, thought the mythological tie-ins were well done.
Out of the ones mentioned here, where do y'all recommend going next, with Triangle and Coherence as jumping-off points?
Great thread BTW, BorrisMart. I'm really digging this genre.

Hell yeah, this movie is awesome.
Anyone here seen Ghosts of War? It has a horror “we’re going in circles!” vibe with a pretty good twist.

If you are talking about ones mentioned in the thread, if you haven't watched Primer I'd go with that. It's far and away the best movie listed in this entire thread. It's one of the best sci-fi/time travel/paradox type movies ever. Seriously.

I think it was me who brought that one up, so I certainly agree.
But yeah, regarding your question, any other movies mentioned in here, or really anything like those two in general.
ETA: Reading back through, it looks like we've ranked them pretty similar so far — so maybe Cube next?

Haha I thought people were going to not be into these types of movies. I love them, but they are hard to find well done ones.
I am currently trying to watch the ones people listed here as well. If you like Coherence there are endless theories and shite on the internet, as with all of these types of movies. Just finished Timelapse and it was really good.

ETA: I came across a show called "Twice Upon A Time" and watched it and it was very good. It is French IIRC and there is a good dubbed version. I think it was a random find on Netflix but is also in the similar mold of these types of movies.
Would highly recommend. Hopefully it isn't cancelled and they continue with another season at some point.
quote:Yeah it wasn't the world's best film but I thought the documentary stuff was either/both done to tell the story or for the idea that each person interviewed was one of the main characters as they all had survived and made it out in one way or another. (could be way off on that).

I absolutely love Cube. It’s such a cool and pretty unique premise. It’s pretty low budget but it pulls it off really well and although it has the low budget feel, it doesn’t come off like it. If that makes sense.
Note: And it was even cooler to me when I learned that the whole thing was filmed using one actual cube.

love this thread
Watched Coherence last night and really enjoyed it.
The Endless is also on Prime, so I'll be watching that next time I get a chance.
Is the Triangle on any streaming service?
Also I feel like I need to watch Primer again. Its been years and I did not understand that movie the first time I watched it.
