Leo wanted to play an evil character, so they brought in a very famous (and esteemed) director to do the rewrites.

There Will Be Blood apparently cost around $25 mil, Flower Moon had a budget of $200 mil.
Did Scorsese have to buy the oil and the land to put it on film?

Irishman went straight to netflix. I think it may it may have gotten a small theatrical release in LA and NY but not nationally for sure.
Good to hear this is getting an actual release because I'm not signing up for Apple just for this.

You should read the book. It has a white detective, it does not feature a white savior.
It does have a narrative that if told totally straight, wouldn't be much of a movie.
It's like a 5 hour listen if you do the audio, which also suggests to me they've added a ton to the story.

It's an Apple movie. Apple struck a deal with Paramount to distribute it to theaters.
Streamers like Apple and Amazon are more and more interested in the revenue stream (and prestige and artist goodwill) of theater distribution. It might not be with Paramount, but Apple will likely be making similar distributions deals with traditional studios in the future.

The trailer said Lead Writer Eric Roth at the end. I totally read it as Eli Roth and thought Martin Scorsese and Eli Roth was a crazy collab I never thought I’d see
