Martin Scorsese reunites with longtime muses Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in the first trailer for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” the upcoming Western epic based on David Grann’s 2017 best-selling non-fiction book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.” Set in 1920s Oklahoma, the drama focuses on a series of Osage Nation murders over oil rights and the newly-formed FBI’s investigation into the killings. The supporting cast includes Jesse Plemons and “Certain Women” breakout Lily Gladstone.

The full “Flower Moon” ensemble includes Scott Shepherd, Pat Healy, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbott Jr., Gary Basaraba, Brendan Fraser and Grammy Award-winning musicians Jason Isbell and Sturghill Simpson. Scorsese was adamant about casting Indigenous actors as members of the Osage Nation in his film.

Been waiting for this one.

Would have rather Devil in the White City been made first but I’m excited

This year is so stacked. This may be the best of them all too.

I'm curious to see how close it is to the real story because the real story is batshit crazy and evil; to the point where if it were fiction, i would think it was a bit over the top.

My most anticipated film of the year

Fair warning: it's 206 minutes long.. was scheduled for release last year but lots of delays shooting on site in Oklahoma, but very early Cannes reviews are saying it's fantastic

It will be on Apple+ shortly after his theatrical run (probably time wise something similar to Air)

I don't even remember the Irishman being released here, but I think this is getting a nation wide run like the previously mentioned "Air".

$200 million budget split between Paramount and Apple.. so it may be on Paramount + as well, not confirmed but makes sense.

Will have a totally different pace than Irishman from what I can gather.

Spaghetti westerns were filmed in Italy by Italian filmmakers.. hence the spaghetti.. most took place either before or after the Civil War, I've seen very few that took place in the 1900s (I think Duck You Sucker partially did)

This takes places in the 1920's or so in Oklahoma, was filmed in Oklahoma, with a sizable American Indian cast.. it's basically the case that created the FBI

This is the wikipedia on the actual Osage murders, so I guess it contains spoilers?

Excited to finally get a trailer, and a damn good one at that. I was getting tired of seeing the photo they kept using to reference the movie.

Can't wait.

Extremely well written book.

Horrifying true story.

Jimmy Stewart's The FBI Story touched on it in a very toned down, extremely abridged way.

To me, Flower Moon is more terrifying because it's horror coming out of pure greed, not a serial killer getting his kicks. And Holmes took credit for so many murders, we really don't know how prolific he really was.

But I read Killers of the Flower Moon and Devil in the White City back to back, and enjoyed them both thoroughly.

I get why epics based on "true" stories make for long movies. What i don't get is why stuff like Wakanda Forever needs to be 161 minutes or why the new Indiana Jones needs to be 154 minutes. Killers Of The Flower Moon covers *****SPOILER ALERT****** sixty murders that take place from 1918 to 1931 and the ensuing investigation.

Looks really good. It is a wild story

I read Somewhere that DiCaprio was supposed to play Tom White then early writing the script they changed focus.

Also cameos from Isbell and Sturgill.

Here's a good article that came out yesterday. It sounds like they're changing up the story

quote:

It was the perfect set-up for a murder mystery, but something didn’t feel right. Scorsese, DiCaprio and De Niro began to realize that the situation was more complex than that. More explicitly, it would be inappropriate to serve up a white-savior Western since white people were also the bad guys: the outsiders who insinuated their way into the Osage and took advantage of their naivety, empowered by apathy from corrupt local law enforcement and townsfolk eager to shake money out of the pockets of their trusting Osage friends.

So, Scorsese started over, seizing on the chance to tell a story that would resonate in a modern era, forcing audiences to confront their own darkest instincts: how far would they be willing to go for the love of money?
