They hit HARD, really really hard. They were crazy edgy at the time, though their rate of funny sketches was lower than Chappelle. I couldn’t believe what I was watching half the time, and the quality of the sketches has really held up over time in that ones like “The Grapist”, “Shoshon, the Elegant”, “Black Doctor”, and even “Abraham Lincoln” still feel powerful today, though some of the stuff is less taboo than it was when it aired.

There’s a LOT of jokes about rape, sodomy, homosexuality, incest, and pedophilia in WKYK with racism being a less frequent topic. Chappelle’s show is probably 90% about racism and stereotypes, and Key & Peele sketches feature racism in probably 40-50% of their sketches. WKYK is probably more like 15-20%.

WKYK sketches are exceptionally well-paced for the most part. They get to the point and move on. Key & Peele sketches often suffer from beating the bit into the ground until it’s no longer funny or just taking too long to hit with the punchline. Chappelle’s show tends to pace its sketches with lots of little pay off moments along the way to its final punchline. They’re more about the journey than the destination.

Don’t forget: while that first episode had Clayton Bigsby, it practically came straight out the gate with “Pop Copy” which gave us the line:
“You may ask, ‘why, why treat the customer this way?’ Cause, f$&k ‘em, that’s why! You graduated from grade school meaning you don’t have to take s€£t from anyone!”

that's not the best line from that one.

I use this one every so often.

I think you could tell me what your least favorite Chappelle show skit is, and i could tell you something funny from it.
as others have said, at his worst, he was still hilarous.
