I've seen Blade Runner, Goodfellas and Patton over 30 times, each. I've seen Pulp Fiction, Ghostbusters, Shawshank and Casino at least 20 times each.

Those are probably my Top 7. Blade Runner and Goodfellas might be at 50, just impossible to estimate.

your friend lied to you. If you are throwing 94 in high school today you are a top 20 round pick. In the 80s your probably top 5. Just like a guy I went to high school with could throw 94 too and went to the hill to play for van horn. Then I'm watching him pitch 2 years later and after 2 years at one of the best weight programs in the country hes hitting between 87-91. Funny how the speeds change huh? Especially in the 80s when radar guns were in there infancy. Most elite high school pitchers throw low to mid 80s and lots of schools no.2 and 3 guys throw in the 70s. In reality

Nah

East Cobb Astros (16 year old elite travel ball in Metro Atl) routinely have pitchers that hit in the low 90's

you mean a hand picked team has guys throwing in the low 90s?! No shite! I guess if I said most high school basketball teams dont have 6'6 guards who can dunk from the 3 point line youd say nah because some aau team from vegas has 3 of them??

Another fun fact, the director didn't realize Bob Uecker was actually an MLB broadcaster when they asked him to play the part of Harry Doyle.

I'm hoping for the Brewers to reach the WS just so he can call the games!

90mph doesn't really mean anything now. Ive personally held the radar gun for plenty of guys who would routinely hit 90-92mph but never went anywhere. A pitcher that throws 90mph thats flat, can't be located, doesn't pickup, and doesn't have and decent offspeed and breaking balls isn't as appetizing to a scout as a high school kid sitting 84-88 with movement, good location, and ability to throw and command multiple pitches.

One of the great things about the movie that helps it work so well is Sheen's pitching mechanics, unlike Tim Robbins for example. Bull Durham is still a great movie, but Robbins looked ridiculous.

Damn, I think I've seen Major League more than the OP and am a big baseball fan, but I don't think I've ever really thought about Sheen's mechanics before. It is impressive, he looks like he really knows what he's doing

I'm not the one who said this and I just gave you an example of "elite HS pitchers" that throw in the 90's.

You figure it out yet?

You could fill a planet with the number of guys who "almost made it" to MLB.

Would be tough to answer accurately. Between:
Star Wars
The Princess Bride
Jeremiah Johnson
Shawshank Redemption

Plus all the big league players in roles as opposing players (particularly the Yankees).

In addition Berenger and Bernsen played high school ball, and Chelcie Ross (Harris, the knuckleballer) played college baseball.

Retired Dodgers catcher Steve Yeager ran a baseball camp for the cast prior to filming. Sheen, of course, roided up for about 2 months to prepare.

Bonus: Dennis Haysbert (Cerrano) took to the sport so well that every time the script called for him to hit a homerun, he actually did.

Recently learned that Charlie Sheen could legitimately throw in the lower 90s.

Everything I've read had his fastball averaging around 85 during filming

He was offered a scholarship to pitch at Kansas out of high school
