Just watched Major League for at least the 75th time
Posted by cubsfan5150 on 10/10/18 at 9:48 pm430
And after 29 years, it's still a great movie, with a great soundtrack...
What movie have you seen the most?
BTW, they're remaking Rookie of the Year

Recently learned that Charlie Sheen could legitimately throw in the lower 90s.

The movie I've seen the most is Drop Dead Fred. Has to be in the hundreds.
Glad to hear Rookie of the Year is getting a remake, I tried to pull off that stunt when I was a kid. I put a baseball in the yard and ran straight at it and tried to land on my arm so I could get super pitching powers.

I heard sheen was a pretty good high school pitcher and could throw mid 80s but not low 90s. Hell if he threw low 90a in the 80s he would've got a legit look.

Getting a legit look could mean a lot of things...
I have an Air Force buddy of mine that threw 94 in high school and was drafted by the Stros, in the 84th freaking round. He never got a legit look

He would have been on a roster.
In 2014 MLBers set records by having the average MLB fastball be 92 MPH...and that was a record and just a few years ago.
In 2000, the average fastball speed in MLB was 89 MPH.
From radar gun evidence the average MLB fastball in the 80's - was around 88 MPH.
There's this strange misconception that a bunch of people are throwing mid-90 and that high 80's is bad...that's most pitchers...the elite are throwing it to crazy numbers we love to see 98 MPH...that's not reality.

Back to the Future. I can quote the entire movie, and know every pause, inflection, accent, everything. It’s crazy, because I don’t watch it all that often as an adult. My parents said they would put it on for me as a child and just rewind it and play it back all day.

Terminator 2- effects still hold up 25 later
BTW
There a Major League website that figured out Cleveland's record for their comeback season.

He also claimed to be on roids during the filming.
Another fun fact, the director didn't realize Bob Uecker was actually an MLB broadcaster when they asked him to play the part of Harry Doyle.

Says who? Played with a guy in HS 30+ years ago that threw low 90's that never made it out of A ball.

Throwing a ball in the 90's does not mean you can pitch. So what if he could hit 92 or something but only every 5 pitches are near the plate.
Also, did he have a second pitch? Your not going to long only throwing fastballs.
As Crash Davis said "in the show everyone can hit a fastball"
